Still one of the most talked about players on this board. :p

And still being hated on years after retirement.

It's entertaining as a fan. So many threads and discussions about her when she hasn't done much of anything recently. Imagine if she really made a comeback, in singles or doubles... every thread in GM would be about her!

:bounce:

...

That's no wonder.
She featured in the greatest women's match in the open era after all.
As the villain however ...

I'm not sure if Hingis is the most talked about on the boards...and BY THAT I MEAN SHE ISNT.

Serena, Sharapova, and even Graf (due largely to Cali) are posted about more often than the Swiss Bitch. Have a good day. :wavey:

Ouch. Some Williams fans are obviously still bitter about the damage Hingis caused to the House of Williams, years after her retirement. Or is it because she isn't still out there making a fool of herself like Venus Williams?

Does anyone except Cali ever make Graf threads?

Nope. Actually, Martina WAS playing tennis when she was smashed upside the head by a Williams 6-3, 6-2 in a Grand Slam Semifinal. ;) Was that before or after she lost four straight Grand Slam finals?

It was in the same year Martina disposed of a Williams 6-1, 6-1 in a Grand Slam semifinal. :) And maintained a 2-1 head-to-head for the year over the Williams who beat her 6-3, 6-2 in that Grand Slam semifinal. All of this, ofcourse, was a couple of years before a certain Williams managed one quarterfinal finish at a Grand Slam event in a span of two years. :wavey:

P.S: Love Vee and Ree, but won't put up with anyone cursing Marti.

Hingis hasn't put up anything in the last two years except her tennis racquet so...........

I also miss Martina like hell, she was so entertaining to watch. Even though I've heard she is a bitch I don't really care, love her tennis and that's it. Want you back on court Martina....please.

She came within a match of completing a grand slam at the age of 16. She won a doubles grand slam at 17. She was the teen in "The Queen vs. The Teen" match, one of the most infamous matches in the history of tennis.

Oh yeah, she'll be talked about and remembered for a looong time. :clap2:

She was a threat for the WS but no more since she's retired. But their " we miss Martina Hingis " thing : That's bullshit or hypocrisy.

No, it's just that when they finally got their wish, they realised how ugly tennis was without Hingis. ;)

I am Williams fan and like Martina, I have many tapes of her matches, she was a great rival for the sisters, and she didn't take anything away from the sisters, Venus denied her two Slams in great matches, Serena has more Grand Slams, sisters have won all Grand Slams, in singles and doubles.
Serena beat her quite a few times, most memorably in The US open final 1999, despite making 57 UFE.
V&S were error-prone for some reason against Martina, but still won many times
Martina was a good rival, but nothing so good to stop Venus and Serena!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Its not either. I am a Venus fan, and I loved watching her matches with Hingis. It was a great rivalry.

Of course, many people miss her. She was also a controversial player and many people hated her guts. I accept that. But the fact that so many people worshipped her and some hated her made her a great asset to the tour. And the fact that up until her injuries kicked in at the end of her career, she was consistantly at the top of the game meant that she had the game to go with the personality.

Consider this. Hingis won every single major WTA tour singles title except one and every major WTA doubles title, except one.

How many other players had that record?

Hingis was more than attitude. She was attitude combined with real talent and with the ability to consistantly turn that talent into winning tennis.
