I just won a 2-hour 50-minute tennis match, 6-4 4-6 7-6 (5). Woohoo! My opponent was kinda nasty at the end too, cause he shook my hand but he didn't even look at me, and didn't say "good match" or anything, but he did say something a minute later when we were getting our stuff together, so I guess it's okay.

I lost yesterday 2-6 5-7 :bigcry: I had a 5-2 lead in the second set to bring it to a 3rd, but I choked big time with 7 set points along the way :crying2:

Oh, and congrats! That looked really tough.

Yeah, I had plenty of water...that's part of what made me sick, so much water sloshing around in my stomach, but I needed it because I was getting dehydrated. It was so hot too, like 85 degrees and I got a total sunburn on my face. My reward for all of that is another match in five and a half hours...

Well really it wasn't. But he should still acknowledge that I was the better player on this day. With the way I play, though, it's never a good match. I play a retreiver-type game. And I have a big serve, which kinda sucks, cause if I get a weak reply, I can't do anything with it.

I play alot of table tennis.
i'm one of the best defenders in the "hood" :)
i wait for the big angle shots, and i give a really nasty return of serve, so alot of people really try to go for big shots and they miss them.
:)

unfortunatly, in tennis i'm not much of a counter-puncher

Ewww...I don't like playing scrappy players :p They get on my nerves because they hit such weak balls. I hate when I lose to scrappy players though :( Because then I know that I could've won if I was patient enough  You'd have to understand that he wasn't angry at you, just angry at himself probably.

But I've come to realize that if scrappy players can win, all the power to them because that could be considered a strategy. Smart people you guys are :wavey:

i had my chances in the fourth set!
but i didnt take it!!!

i beat him back 2 weeks later in the finals of my neigbourhood

21-11 21-13 21-15 ( he claim he is having back pain so he didnt wanna play in the 4th set)

Yeah...I don't think I hit one winner in the whole match...maybe a couple of serve winners (no aces.)

If we assume that the winner always is the better player why then should the loser acknowledge this after the match as the thread starter suggested?

Because he could have been teh better player but he didn't take his opportunities. Key words: COULD HAVE

so why would the losing play have to acknowledge the winner as the better player? :p

sounded a great match!
i have played 2 times already this summer, both different players, both with similar styles. I won both matches, the first 6-7 6-3 6-3 and the 2nd 6-4 7-5. I was so much better in the 2nd match. Im quite a good all round player, i run everything down, and also hit the ball hard, and like to (ie i dont always make it) play angle shots, or at least try. I love to mix it up too.

My game has really improved since last year. Although my serve seems a little dogy than last year... it seems my serve gets much better, more consistent as the match progresses. I hate to serve on the opening game lol :p

congrats on your match! i usually never win pretty...i've had some epic matches myself...one i won 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2) and I only won it because of mental strength...so good job for you! it's so easy to choke when you're close to winning.

i won my match this weekend 7-5, 6-1. my problem as a player is that i LOVE pace...but i'm not so good with spin. i mean, i can hit it, but i get impatient and it leads to the mistake. my one friend always beats me 6-2, 6-1 because he spins EVERYTHING. he hits no flat shots because he knows i can take the pace and make it a winner...or send it back when he thinks the point is done. my friend got disheartened because he hit a really good return on my weak second serve and i hit it back to him just as hard like it was nothing. but that's my game. you can beat me with spin though...:(

and my serve. :o sometimes it's decent and other times it's really slow...i just slice it in and hope that i can hit the return back.

yesterday i tried a one handed backhand in doubles and i like it a lot...i'm gonna practice it and i might get rid of my two handed backhand which is pretty bad. after fucking up for the 5th time with it in my one match that didn't finish (i was down 5-love though..) i slammed my racket down, yelled "fuck" and broke it :tape:

Me too  I hate to play against a bad player or baddest then me because I know I should win and someitmes, he hit ball so weird and it's tough to hit it back on court and i have patience so I will try a big winner, but I don't have to do it, just hit it on court and I win so I hit ball on net and lose  :tape:

Well if I lose a close match I usually don't look at the person either :o
Mainly cause I've only lost 2 really close matches!!

One of them I had 8 matchpoints to make the finals :fiery:
