Was this a charity match or did Hingis and Sabatini just get lots of appearance money? this match was part of a "grand slam champions trophy" or something - a supporting program at the atp-tournament in halle - with also BECKER, STICH, MUSTER and COURIER. tournament-directors gerry and ralf weber do always organize some nice events around their open. i guess the players got a lot of money - but i'm not sure. i've seen it. and it was boring! GABYs deep backhand-slice is still great, a great weapon on grass and she had a few nice winning points with it. but overall - she didn't play well. it wasn't the game what was beautiful to watch. ;) | |
