PARIS There's no question where Trish Levin will be at 8 a.m. today. She'll be smiling in front of her television set in Miami as Mary Pierce plays the French Open final in Trish's clothing creations.

"Totally surreal," she said in a telephone interview from her office at the LeJay tennis clothing offices in Miami Lakes, where she is vice president and chief designer. "We're all blown away here. It's a fabulous feeling. We're just a small company."

Late last year, Pierce's agent was in South Florida for a junior tennis tournament and contacted LeJay about providing court clothing. The company got started immediately, sending Pierce bits and pieces of material and design concepts until she settled on the outfits she's been wearing throughout the clay court season, including the French Open.

For the past three matches, she's worn white with powder blue and navy side strips.

"Our Moody Blues collection," Levin said. "She's superstitious, so I don't know if she'll wear that for the final. But she's also got black with pink and white and pink and black. What we've given her is very classic tennis clothes."

Pierce said one of her agents from Octogon, the company that represents her, made contact with LeJay.

"I don't have a deal with LeJay. They're just making the clothes for me, and I plan to design my own clothes after Wimbledon," Pierce said.

LeJay is an amalgamation of family names, a business that was started by Levin's grandparents in the early 1980s and handed down to their children and grandchildren. Originally, it was aerobic wear, and a tennis division was opened in 1996. Her grandfather and company founder, Murray Jacovitz, is 89 and lives in Pembroke Pines. Her parents, Steve and Jeanne Levin, took over the company 10 years ago. The company has 20 employees, Trish Levin said.

Trish Levin entered the family business after getting a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia, and her educational specialty isn't wasted.

"There's psychology involved with designing clothes," she said.
