Thank goodness Roland Garros is over? The quality of tennis was very bad this year. And the final was boring...credit to JHH, she out hit Pierce, but I was hoping to see a good match. It's tragic that the closest matches of the event were close because of errors.

The women's Roland Garros final has been of distastrous quality 2 years in a row now. :(

Yep it was pretty awful. No players really played at their best. And that final was indcredibly dull.

Still Justine deserved it I guess. But MAry could have at least made her fight.

They can't blame it on the sisters this time.

Thank goodness for the Federer and Nadal match. The kid (Nadal) is something to be reckoned with.

Congrats go to Justine.

That final was just painful to watch...I thought it was a good first week, with some surprisingly close matches, but as the tournament went along it seemed to get worse.

Yea, hope Wimbledon is much better, especially as I'm going!!! :D

Surely you MUST be joking ! Amélie vs Patty in Rome was fabulous tennis :worship:

The two players playing the best tennis got to the final. If their quality was so bad then someone else should have stepped up to take the title.

Indeed! That was a GREAT match! But (at least I) didn't see any matches of the same level in quality this past fortnight :tape: Oh well, at least the winner was justified, can't have it all I guess ;) Hope for a great Wimby! :lick:

And nobody that was willing to fight eventhough clay isn´t their best surface..

There are more clay court players out there than just Justine, but nearly all of them were drawn against Justine in one of the earlier rounds.
This is what happens when all the clay court specialists are in one half of the draw.

absolutely correct.
Conchi-Justine had GREAT rallies and was a great match
Medina-Ju too
Ju-Kuz was a very thrilling match (altho quality not always top)
even Masha-Ju was good

I really wonder what parallel universe RG have you all been watching the last few years if you think this year was any different. It wasn't. And I enjoyed it.

definitely one of the worst slams i've ever seen, congrats to Justine though

i hope Wimbledon will be different with Serena back, Lindsay and Maria much better on grass, Amelie whose game is more suited for Wimbledon and Kim 100% fit.

things can only get better ;)

This happens because the I-D-I-O-T-S (sorry about the language) at RG do not change the rankings according to surface.

I must say that I enjoyed men's tennis on clay more than women's. In my opinion, Justine is the only woman who played great in FO this year. Not surprise at all that Justine won. ;)

the coverage of the tourney by espn and nbc was atrocious, also. the same 3 or 4 players all the time live and tape delay. by far the worst coverage i've ever seen.

I think the WTA should just give Justine all the clay tournaments. She's the only one who can play on the surface anyway LOL.

No it's not rude to say at all. I would of liked to have seen at least one high quality match in the qtrs or semis. :tape:

I second that. Although I'm happy justine won it was not exciting at all on the women's side.

If you want to see good tennis, go to the tournament and watch the early rounds.. i spent 3 days at the outer courts.. and it was GREAT tennis..
