Karolina wouldn't. :o It'd be like a 7-5 4-6 7-5 win for K-Lina. :tape:

 trust me, if Robinson, Serra-Zanetti, Zabala, Dziamidzenka, Uy, Broderik, Foretz, Shoso, Devidze, Krishnamurthy, Krivenchiva, Chemarda, Mahler, e.t.c can double bagel Nancy, i'm sure Sprem could- seing as she beat Venus Williams less than a year ago!

Nancy duuh, she is worse than my grandma at tennis

lol, but she isn't really in a 'slump' because she just bad 24/7? :tape:

I don't think she plays for the money or competition, just fun.

This is definitely the "Year of the Slump." The players listed there don't even include bigger names like Sugiyama, Zvonareva, and Venus (though her's started last year).

Tammy Tanasugarn took a wild card and played in the Surbiton $25K Challenger this week. She lost very quickly ...

ok, Venus kind of won Istanbul so I don't really call that a slump.

Sugiyama has won 9 matches this year and lost 13, which isn't too bad.

Zvonareva made Rome Semi Finals, Won Memphis, QF's of Amelia Island and reached the third Round of Roland Garros and half these players didn't even win their first round match ;)

Out of those I picked Myskina, but I think Venus is in the biggest slump at the moment, considering how she used to play & what she used to achieve.

Yes, but almost all of the players in your poll were mediocre to begin with. Now, they just can't win matches at all on the main tour.

Venus, Sugiyama, and Zvonareva used to be top 10 players, and now they routinely play tournaments without winning a match. Myskina is in your poll and isn't much different than these three.

Both are slumps.

It doesn't matter what exact rank they were, all have been top 50 (except loeffler caro)

Venus is most definitely not in the
biggest slump by any stretch of the imagination.

We are not comparing Venus now to what she
did a few years ago, this is simply in general.

Venus is merely inconsistent, but
not in a slump.

Oz Open- 4th rd (tight two setter with Molik 7-5 7-6)
Antwerp- Finalist (Got tight against Mauresmo in a tight 3 sets))
Dubai- 1st rd (injury)
Miami- Semifinalist (Great match except for the two games against Sharapova)
Amelia Island- Quarterfinalist (Amazing 1st set tennis of three tight sets with Davenport; where she again got tight but still showing good tennis at times throught remainder of match)
Charleston- 3rd rd (drained, windy conditions and too many errors)
Istanbul- Champion (Nice all week even in a T3 not beating herself)
French open- 3rd rd (Tournament where her forehand got her to the 3rd rd before everything thing in her game completely shut down, especially her serve)

Venus has played some sporatic tennis this year being brilliant
at times and being terrible at times.

She's definitely shown signs of improvemnt on her serve and forehand this year in certain tournaments and has broken down in others.

So IMO, Venus is not in a slump,
she's just wildy inconsistent for the time being.

Even though Sprem is my favoirte I say Myskina is worse off. She was the 2004 RG Champion last year. She was the No.1 Russian. She led Russia to the Fed Cup title. She made semis of YEC champs and almost made finals, but got injured against Sharapova. She beat Davenport two times towards the end of the year in Moscow and YEC. She never lost to Dementieva last year (I think). She basically was the 2nd or 3rd best player last year. This year, her best result was a SF in Antwerp. :o

well i do think by the way Venus used to play and how she used to be a major threat for any tournament she played. . . i would consider her in a slump now.

myskina maybe in bad condition, but she will end the year in the top50 for sure, no matter what.

i think tammy lost her touch.
both in singles AND doubles, she's not her usual self, the scorlines are bad and it seems as though she and paradoran's only hopes are to play some good tennis in wimbledon, or else all that was said about thai tennis taking form would be bullshit, as it was just a fluke that both the men and women had solid strong players.

The poll is inadequate because Venus Williams is the one with the worst slump right now. Myskina is slumping too this year but she's an overachiever, she could do much better of course but Venus' slump beats Myskina's slump easily if you compare it to Venus usual performances pre- 2003.

I'd have been shocked a year ago if told that I'd now be saying everyone should get off Myskina's back. But picking on her results this year ignores the fact that real life is more important than tennis.

(A fact that a few Peppermint Partisans should deal with, incidentally).

The greatest tennis fighter of all time.
Love her or hate her, Jen has gotta be the ultimate "too legit to quit" player of this decade, in terms of running everything down within a mile of the court.

Tammy, Anastasia, Claudine and Martina are in very bad slumps, in my opinion.
