View Full Version : Justine has class, even if many here and the commentators don't.

So Mary takes a bit of time. Grow up and get over it.

Anyway, to the point:

ESPN interviewed Justine after the Pierce match, and Justine said that she has great respect for Mary, and that she respects her too much to complain to the chair about the time that Mary takes. Justine said that that is just Mary's game, and that she should focus on her own game instead of worrying about that.

:worship: Nice attitude, Justine.

Now if only other people could have that amount of class about this.

Stopwatches... really

Well that doesn't say much coz Justine is a friend of Mary's

What's adhering to a rule got to do with class?

Not that I give a toss about this issue, by the way.

You actually believe that shit she says to the press? I'm sure it doesn't bother her, but all that other stuff, right!

I think Mister Mayer wrote that for her!

sorry to spoil the fun, but i fail to see what she said that was so out of this world.

nice comments, but if that was the definition of class, then all the ladies have been classy many times in their careers :)

You know Jon, I'm not convinced Mary breaks this rule that often. On the return, she's ready quickly.

On the serve, it's 25 seconds from the end of the last point until you start your service motion... not until you hit the ball. Mary has a long service motion, but it's part of it.

I doubt she normally takes over 25 seconds, and half the time the crowd is still cheering when she goes into her motion... if the crowd is making noise then she's not obligated.

Add to that the fact that Likhovtseva was taking a lot of time between return points, as well.

I fail to understand what people are failing to understand.

Was the match that boring that it had to turn into scrutinizing Mary's activity between serves? Please!

I'm a Likhovtseva fan and a bit peeved at her reaction. Sour grapes.

You are making wayyyyy to much out of what Elena had to say in her press conference. If anything, she complimented Mary saying she was the one that dictated the outcome of the match.

People know that Mary takes long between points. Some are patient about and others are not. Elena had every right to make that comment.

no.

the whole TOURNAMENT has been so boring that we've had to take excitement in counting the seconds between Ma'am's serves.

You are really getting worked up about this Mary thing aren't you? It's really not that big of a deal. You thought that Lindsay fans were blaming it for her loss the other day, too. Oh well.

And class? :tape:

Elena did not say anything wrong. All she said was it is annoying how long Pierce takes between points. She did not use that as an excuse. She said that Mary flat out beat her.

And Pierce when serving does break the rules. She takes forever. Apparently she always has and always will. Is it a big deal? Probably not.

Elena didn't really say anything. She was just asked whether she found it annoying. The only thing she said was "a bit".

Class for one, needs to be constant and consistent.

I said I was peeved at Elena's reaction, and I am. She said it was annoying. Never in their other 10 matches did she complain.

And  at bloc_party et al. I don't have time for you people. I'm not the one making a big issue of this. I'm the one trying to prove it's not a big issue.

In any case, I'm done here.

Oh, I don't have all that much time for your posts normally either  :wavey:

Then, don't bother posting threads calling people classless :o

I agree with Justine. You should focus on YOUR tennis and not what your opponent is doing in between points...so stupid.

So... Likhovtseva's reaction to Pierce's rule-breaking is not classy, yet the immmature blow it out of proportion reaction from Serena when Justine broke no rule doesn't make her classless???

That wasn't complaining. She just answered a question that was posed before her. She didn't even comment on it, so she is not making a big issue out of it.

So, Justine should get a Nobel peace prize for stating the obvious? It was nice but about 98% of the tour is nice.

Anyone with a pulse knows that if they have a problem with something, they have the right to speak to the umpire. You don't complain after the match is over.

Champions don't let other player's idiosyncracies get in the way of them hoisting the trophy.

And how observing that Mary takes too much time between points make some wtaworld posters classless?

It's the truth, and some people might find it annoying. I just don't get why this is suddenly an issue now.

I SAID ABOUT THIS ISSUE. Thanks.

And Bree... if you want to say that she takes too much time, that's fine. But you know damn well that some posters are going overboard in their criticism.

What is the point of having the rule if it isn't enforced??

Likhovtseva shouldn't have to complain, he should be doing his job and enforcing the rules.

I don't think Mary takes enough time. I almost finished the latest Dan Simmons novel during the Lindsay match, and would have if Mary hadn't rushed through her service
games like a wild tornado.

I love Justine. I love the way she was being so respectful of Mary even when Chris Fowler was trying to start shit. He obviously was not satisfied with Justine answer that she doesn't have any problems with Mary's slow tempo, and that she will only try to keep her own focus.

Serena simply asked for 2 serves like she SHOULD have gotten unfortunately her opponent DIDN'T have ENOUGH class that day to let the ump know she had her hand up.

If the rule is in place it should be enforced. Justine has the right attitude, if you opponent taking a few extra seconds to serve makes you lose then you aren't a winner anyway. I suggest anyone playing Mary just to take a few seconds of their own to fix their strings and mentally prepare for the next point like Mary does.

I admit Justine's a great champion but I just don't like the girl...her having a nice opinion of Mary taking forever between serves doesn't mean she has class...just means she's not a bitch.

absolutely right, bloc party!its becoming really boring.i think,we should concentrate more on what its really all about, and not these little things!why dont people talk more about how great she played her last matches??THIS is,what its all about!and not,how many seconds she takes before serving!!come on,guys, this is KINDERGARTEN!! :fiery:
