Lena said it in her interview. She was not complaining or going on about Pierce but she did say, when asked, that it is a little bit annoying. :(

Wish Lena could have played better.

Still, great tournament, Lena. Love ya! :hearts: :hearts:

Pam was 100% spot on because Pam has played pro tennis and she felt for Likhovtseva. I like Mary a lot but I have to say that this was a huge achievement for Lena and people need to realize that it's hard enough to play a player like Mary on her game in France without this going on. I know it's how Mary has always played but it does not change that we should understand how it is STILL UNFAIR to LENA and ALL I CAN SAY IS PROPS TO PAM for seeing how it would feel to be in Lena's shoes.

we should understand how it is STILL UNFAIR to LENA

And if LENA had actually said something - that I could respect. She's a grown woman, she doesn't need Pam stirring shit for her, and I really doubt she'd thank Pam for it.

well, yes, but you have to realize that Lena was very depressed anyways about her game and probably beating herself up. I doubt that she wanted to say something and get the crowd against her. I think you can understand why players may fear challenging Mary in front of a partisan Parisian crowd.

She was playing the crowd at times, milking them for their worth, but they’ve given her grief at times so why not. But I think she’s kind of bad with her nerves and not doing it on purpose.Mary just send out that aloofness that has created her nickname “Princess Mary the drama queen” in the locker room.

She’s been a personal favourite of mine for many years now. But sometimes even I shout out “For fucks sake Mary just get on with it!”

Right, having Pam do it for them is going to make the crowd happier?

It's not like Mary started playing like this in the middle of a match and took anyone by surprise. Any player who had a serious problem (or anticipated one) could have gone to the tournament officials (quietly and not on camera) and spoken to them about it. Or spoken to them afterwards.

The fact that none of them has speaks volumes for how much of a "problem" this is.

I haven't seen Mary play in a while. How bad is it next to Conchita? Conchita does the ball routine, and then scratches her ass, adjusts her ponytail, flicks her headband, and then taps with both feet.

So basically Elena says she used to Mary's way of playing (taking her time in between points) and this tactic she finds "gênante" but she points out that I think she realizes that this was not the turning point of the match(my interpretation  ). It was Mary's agressive tactic: controlling most of the shots out there and moving better than usual. Because of this Elena states she was never able to really get into the match/or play her game? :ras:

what do you mean by "having Pam do it?" I think Pam just took matters into her own hands. She saw something wrong and took a stand. Like it or not, it's a problem but most players don't speak up because they don't want more problems. I can understand that.

maybe you don't like what Pam did and that's fine. I can see both p.o.v.'s. :)

That’s why I’m thinking a lot on this board must be new to the game to make comments about Mary wasting time, like hadn’t they seen Mary play before now?
Mary has her own mannerisms on court, she’ll hardly change now. I don’t think she could fully concentrate without her going through her little routines or habits, it keeps her focused. :)

Hmmm Mary has been acting like all the time and she got warning at RG when she lost to Martinez in the second round ( i think it was 1999)but do you think warning would change something in this matches? Even if she had served faster she would have won because she was much better player.

Mary is a bitch and those sorry umpire should of done something about her doing, but of she THINKS that she is french so no one is going to say any thing. The French can be real sad sacks at time. Hopefully Justine will complain to the Chair and kick her old desperate CANANDIAN ass. :fiery:

Yes Iam a Seles fan and the reason why i do not like Mary is because iam a seles fan.

FO 2000- Monica was beating Mary like a wannabe french step child. In the middle of the 2nd set Monica had MAry traped in the back court, running her from side to side, monica is at the net putting away a volly and mary hits the ball between her legs, monica lets it go ( it looked like it was going out) lands on the corner line and after that monica was toast. I Do not blame Mon, it the ball went through Mary legs i would not touch it either

I do not know how you saw that match, but when i watched it Monica was playing very good high quality tennis, i felt that she was going to win that match. after that shot she was like a different person she could never get that upper hand on Mary. I remember the look on Mon's face when the ball fell in the court and she had let it go.

Also I not say anything bad about mary in that match. I said that Monica was playing good and after that point she was not, what excuse is that but Mary played good

If this is all tennis can muster as an "issue" to debate and fight about, tennis is indeed in sad shape.

So, Mary takes a few extra seconds. Ring up the World Criminal Court and let's prosecute!

Pierce has been playing like that ever since anyone can remember. Just be happy she's playing well and there's at least a chance of a good final. Tell Pam to go back repaste the pictures in her scrapbook or something and leave the pros alone.
