Even though she's dealing with a back injury, the 22-year-old Henin looks as fast and powerful as ever. She's added a vicious new inside-out forehand to her amazing repertoire and for more than a few moments on Court Philippe Chatrier, she looked like Roger Federer stepping into the doubles alley and hammering shots across the court and close to the line.

"We've worked pretty hard on that shot because everybody knows my backhand is beautiful, it's natural, but it doesn't give me a lot of points. I move better when I go for my inside-out forehand, so that makes me feeling better physically. I'm in better shape when I do this, so that's very good. I can run a lot. But I love to use this shot. It's probably the first match here at the French Open I used this shot."

Hasn't she been doing that for quite awhile now? Like since she was 14 ?

:wavey: No. I haven't seen her turn around her backhand for an inside-out forhand before this match (at least not that often).

I've always thought her inside out forehand is really among the best in the game like that of Jenn and Elena.

I think it's nothing new, but it really worked out as she wanted it today. What has been new for me today is that she's used it sometimes to end the rally with an ordinary but huge winner fh cc after an introducing fh inside out.
So using the fh more than 2 times in a row was new for me today, not the fh inside-out alone.

Amazing stuff that she separated the rallies between fh- and bh-based ones today ...

Yes, she used it beautifully in 2004!

I believe she's always had this shot. Legend has it that when she was only
two months old, a ping-pong ball bounced towards her left hand. According to the
stories, Justine crawled around it and swatted it away with her right hand to the
opposite side of the room. Onlookers swear they heard a very faint "allez" sound
coming from the tiny child...

Yeah I think she had it for a while too  I'm actually still a firm believer that Justie won RG by using this pattern over and over again very succesfully: serve out wide, turn around her backhand and hit an inside out FH winner in the opposite corner

The inside out FH winner in the first game of the second set was INSANE!

Whether she had it all along or not, it's definitely doing some serious damage for her now! I guess opponents' avoidance of the bh forced her to improve it & it is certainly 200% better than when she first started having big results.

That's a nice sig. rottweily, How long did that take:)

And of course against a player who isn´t known for her movement....it looked even better.

there's a mistake...she was talking about her crossed forehand..not the forehand inside out
