Out of these players (currently ranked 5-14 on the Race to the YEC) which one do you think is most likely not to make the tournament?

Nathalie Dechy. She's been sucking lately...

I would actually go with Myskina, who should really be on that list. You should also be able to check more than one option, as I don't think Golovin, Petrova, Dechy or Farina Elia have much chance to make the YEC and I'm doubtful that Patty will either. Look at the Race to the Championships and you'll see that Mauresmo and Dementieva are actually doing quite well and Venus isn't doing that badly.

Who Will Not Make the Year End Championships?

Just a crazy mad wild guess here but anyone who is currently ranked outside the top 100 in the rankings.

They are hanging on to the hope that there will be a huge rise in ankle twisting, hip disorders and sudden chronic fatigue sydrome.

Bonne chance

Exactly I just used #5-14 on the YEC list, to make the poll.. There are a lot of people I would have like to have added (Myskina, Kuznetsova), but since they aren't even in the top 14, I thought I'd just picked them.

I thought about making it more than one option, but I think a poll is more telling with one, it'll let you see who people really think won't make it, and not the group of people who are likely not to make it.

With those options, the poll should've been "Who will make the Year's End Championships?"

Because out of that list, I only see Henin-Hardenne, Mauresmo and Dementieva there, though Molik, Venus and even Schnyder have chance. Venus by potential is a lock in the TOP8, however she is not playing many events and is not doing exceptionally well at those she plays. Dementieva is having quite a decent year, and she is consistent so even if she doesn't defend her runner-up points at Roland Garros and at the US Open, she still would have a chance to qualify, even as #8.

I know it's soon to predict, but my TOP8 players in no real order:
- Davenport, Sharapova, S. Williams, Henin-Hardenne, Clijsters, Mauresmo, Dementieva and Molik/Venus/Capriati/Kuznetsova. Some can surprise and some might fail to qualify, but those are the ones who seem to be doing better ATM not to mention they're the best players on tour IMO.

i'm just happy that patty is having the sort of the year that makes her a genuine chance of making it. she struggled to make it when it was top 16 for quite a few years.

Well with that train of thought. You may as well only invite Rena, JuJu, Kim, & Masha, since they are the only ones on Tour that have a legitimate chance on winning it. You could argue Lindsay & Momo, but I doubt either would beat the Belgians nor Serena at such a huge event. Venus, she's simply TOO inconsistent. She'll play a good match, then shitty be the next. And the rest of the Tour simply doesn't have the game to be a real threat. Of course in the end they're all professionals, so there's always that chance. No matter how small it may be.

Dechy has no chance. I don't think Farina Elia has much of a chance either.

I pretty much agree with that and it's pretty rammed as it is with only 8, Vera certainly isn't going to qualify again.

Meaningless simply because their is no way you
can predict anything at this point with still
six months or so to go.

Hmmm.....

Well Patty Schydner and Justin Henin-Hardenne certainly won't make it, because there are no players of those names! ;)

Dechy, Golovin and Farina-Elia are almost sure bets to not make it to the YEC.
