It doesn't look good for Venus. If Justine Henin-Hardenne gets to the finals of Berlin then Venus will likely be ranked 15 with Clijsters a spot below her next week. It looks like Venus will probably be seeded number 16 for the French Open. 15 If Alicia Molik doesn't play as she's implying this week. Capriati looks like she'll be seeded 14 for Roland Garros if she plays that is.

ranking wise there will be no difference between the no.5-12, they will all draw each other in the round of 16. There will be some mighty battles then.

but kim remained at 17 seventeen despite making the semis of a tourny she never played in last year.

Well it's no surprise that Venus is ranked outside the top ten, she will even be ranked lower after Berlin. But I don't think it should matter to her what ranking she has at Roland Garros, if she comes out ready to play she should be able to beat anybody across the net :yeah:.

It is a good thing that Venus did horrible last year at Wimbledon, becuase other top players did very well there last year.
So I guess Capriati and Zvonareva could fall behind Venus again after Wimbledon?

Venus' points is less than Jennifer's although she played more tournaments. that is the sign
Nicole falls down :fiery: where the hell is she? doesn't she want RG seed?

And what's the biggie?
The biggie is that Venus unlike her sister has to be a high seed for her to win a major. She's at that stage in her career. Hingis always said that it's easier to beat a Williams early on in a tournament because they're not as focused. The farther they get into a tourni, the harder it is to beat them. Venus got a dose of that reality last year at the US Open. She had her chances but she didn't take advantage of them. If that happened to be a US Open quarterfinal though she probably would have found some way to win against Lindsay.

unfoortunately it is still hard to count on Venus to go very far in a slam these days.
The telling point is jen can lie in bed for weeks and still be ahead of venus. Even with jen not winning a title in that calender period. Look how poorly vera is performing yet she remains ahead of venus.
after 7 tournys venus is not even in the top 10 in the race anymore. all it took for justine and kim was three tournys. players like dechy, patty remain ahead,
