YAYAYAYAYAY :) :)
That makes me happy. Even though she SHOULD win this match anyway, the 6-0, 6-1 is very impressive. Go Jelena :D

A win is a win I suppose, but let's be realistic...Malheiros can't even get out of 10K qualifying more than half the time. Jelena could've won this match when she was 12. I know she's fallen way off form, but anybody who was expecting anything close to a competitive match here is crazy. We've got at least 10 or 15 nationally ranked girls in the US who could beat a player like Carolina.
I'm looking forward to her match w/Vanina tomorrow. That will be much more of an indication of what she needs to do. Vanina is a player who is completely at home on a clay court. She won a 25K last year, reached a couple of 25K finals last year, and reached the semis of a 50K in '03. All of her career best results have come on clay, so if Jelena can win that match it will be an encouraging sign. Best of luck to her :) No reason she can't qualify here...

A win is a step in the right direction for Dokic. I think qualifying is a good way for her to build up some confidence & get match practice. I hope she is able to get back to the form that took her to the top 5!

A win is a win, Queen Maria. Even though it isn't a really big win, it's definitely still a step in the right direction.
