Zagreb challenger - Martinez? Capriati? [Archive]

Hi

I just heard that Conchita Martinez was playing the Zagreb challenger - she is currently ranked #49 in the world, and I was wondering if there was a cut-off ranking where players were not allowed to play challengers. For example, if Majoli was still playing and was Top 5 still could she play Zagreb as there are no WTA events in Croatia - or would she be required to play Birmingham that week?

I also wondered whether the 'top player' playing Majoli in an exhibition match could be her good friend Jennifer Capriati testing her shoulder after surgery? :bounce:
