I'm thinking of going to the University of Maastricht for a semester abroad my junior year. I've looked at the city online and done some research and it seems like a very cool place. However, you can only tell so much by reading reviews and looking at pictures. Has anybody on the board been there, and if so what are your thoughts?
So far I'm really liking the old world feel to it w/the cobblestone streets and the like, the fact that you can get by completely speaking English, and the fact that I'm within three hours of so many amazing cities (Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich, Luxembourg, and Paris)

Been twice Bradshaw....most recently in Oct last year for a brief stop of only a fortnight or so.... in 1995 I was there for about 3 months....
I have a good friend who lives in North Amsterdam...about a 5 min drive outside the city centre.
I ADORE Holland...and Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities in the world. I never tire of wandering around the canals, getting lost, rediscovering...sensational.
Everyone speaks English...which makes things easier ...although its always nice to learn a little Dutch of course.
Great people...fun and friendly and a fantastic mix of cultures.
If it wasn't 24 hours away by plane and diabolically expensive to get too (as most of the world is from from Sydney)....I would be there at least once every year.
You will have a wonderful time I can assure you.

Yep, Maastricht is a cool city with lots of nice places to go to. It's also close to both Belgium and Germany, so you can go there quicky as well. I would definitely jump at the opportunity if I were you and I'm not just saying that because I'm Dutch myself.

Just imagine how impressed the girls back home will be when you tell them you've visited Luxembourg. Most of them find it a real turn-on (at least in my experience...) :tape:
