As the rankings stand right now, there are so many players will a lot of talent who are just outside the seeded range (some farther away, but still with potential to cause upsets). Some of them are likely to break the seed barrier of 33 (Cappy won't play RG right?), but most of them won't and they could be very dangerous first round matches.

We have:
Ivanovic
Safina
Dulko
Vaidisova
Li Na
Linetskaya
Douchevina
Kirilenko
Groenefeld
Peng
Chakvetadze
Domachowska

All of these ladies could cause upsets if they get put against seeds in the first round. In addition to them we have so people who are always strong on clay (Martinez, other Spaniards, etc.) who could beat up on players not used to the clay.

It could be SUCH an exciting French Open!!!! :bounce:

i think the top8 seeded players will pray not to get Clijsters or HeninHardenne in 4th round.

Well yes and no. Clijsters with the way she's going could be in the top 10 after Rome easily. The same with probably Henin-Hardenne. They would be ranked where they are right now which is the top 10. For players like Lindsay and Sharapova who need to avoid the Belgians at all cost it's great because the chances of them playing a low top 10 seed in the 4th round is low. For players like Dementieva, Kuznetsova, and Myskina it's not looking good for them right now.

Someone said Penetta who I very much agree with.

Throw in Krajicek as well. I don't think clay is her cup of tea, but she has a nice game, and plenty of potential.

Despite her first round loss this week, I think Flavia has a good chance to make 4th rnd or beyond.

I disagree. Pennetta is a good clay court player but we just don't know how she'll play against the top 30 players on clay. She's had a good winning streak on clay starting from last year but winning in Teir III and IV does not equat to wins in Teir I's or IIs. I do remember people saying that Emilie Loit who also won 11 straight matches on clay would be a dangerous floater last year. She happened to get crushed in the 2nd round by Jie Zheng.

I think Llgostera Vives might be a floater though. She's played the small tourni but also has won matches in the big tournis as well. Making it to the 4th round of Charleston was no easy feat for her. If she's playing agressive and can hold serve she has a chance to possibly get to the 4th round of Roland Garros.

Ivanovic is in a great position to sew up a top 32 seed. She's currently ranked No. 34 according to TheBoiledEgg's rankings. With Jennifer to miss out on Roland Garros and Ivanovic to also play Berlin, she should get a seeding. If Ana wins tomorrow its all about said and done.

Remember that the 1-8 seeds play the 25-32 seeds and the 9-16 seeds play the 17-24 seeds in the Round of 32.
