15 minutes by metro and a 3 minute walk after that. It's very very easy.
I stayed near the Eiffel Tower and was at Stade Roland Garros within... well, no more than 20 minutes. All of Paris is pretty easy with metro.

Yeah, it's really easy from anywhere in Paris by metro. You need to take, line 10 (if I remember the number correctly) to Porte D'Auteil metro station. The Opera district is quite close, and not as expensive as around the Champs Elysees area. The only place I've stayed that's been really quite far was near to the Bercy stadium.

yeah Bercy is kinda far... and it is 10 -> Porte d'Auteille. Then exit, following signs to RG and once outside - turn a hard left and go 1/2 a block.

Remember to get a 'carnet' for the metro rather than a 'billet' because you'll use them more thatn you think ;)

going to the fo sounds like fun, hope i get to do it one day (maybe i can go this year to see nastya retain her fo title lol)...how is the ticket situation over there? are they easy to come by?..how does the atmosphere compare to the australian open for instance?..but at least i got the us open in my hometown (only 10 minutes from where i live) so you can go to the upper bowl, get drunk, and heckle andy roddick lol

Yes, definitely! A 'carnet' is 10 individual Metro tickets and is a really good idea because often the ticket office will be closed by the time you want to go back to your hotel, and trying to work out the 'automatic ticket machine' is very  ;)
