View Full Version : Why is homosexuality constantly linked to paedophilia?

The "Another teacher caught molesting a student" thread got me started thinking about this. It seems that in most debated about homosexuality those who oppose it use the paedophilia argument to impose their views. "If we allow homosexuality it's just the matter of time before the peadophils start demanding their rights blah blah blah..." Why? Aren't those two completely different things?
Doesn't a homosexual relationship suppose two (or more) people willing to be with one another? And that's certainly not the case with paedophilia.
I don't see any connection between the two. But, surprisingly many people do.

Well, to some poor misguided souls out there, the two are equally nasty. Sadly, for some folks, anything that isn't one man one woman, ten toes up, ten toes down, man on top, in a bed, blinds drawn, and only for procreation, is wrong.

I think too when the pedophilia is "same sex" folks already uncomfortable about gayness have two things to be horrified by, and some of the excess horror bleeds over into the persons thinking about plain old gays.

exactly, kabuki.

for some reason, when pedophilia is hetero, they're able to distinguish the behavior (wanting to have sex with a child) from the sexual "preference".

but when it's same sex pedophilia, the behavior and "preference" become one. so all homosexuals are pedophiles.

in addition, if you view homosexuality as a sickness and pedophilia as a sickness, they sorta blend.

i think it's fucked up to think that way but many people do.

There have been stories about paedophilia in Catholic churches, right? Maybe that has to do with as well. I mean, those kind of difficult subjects stay in our memory and some people might think that paedophilia is always like that; a man and a little boy. It's wrong, but a majority thinks that way I guess... It's sad
