I thoroughly enjoyed the match though I was only 8 years old and just learning to play so maybe that's not something useful to go by :tape: I was shocked that Steffi lost, I thought she only ought to ever lose to Monica.

I remember pacing the room for one incredibly long game that proved to be decisive. Steffi eventually won it but after that Jennifer just kept on going and Steffi couldn't keep her at bay any more.

I would say this is obvious. I mean, of all the things she achieved otherwise at such an early age, this was the only time she put a number of matches together and won big. Of course, there are single matches and a decent run at various tourneys, but in Barcelona, she strung it all together and managed to not only beat Arantxa in front of a very partisan crowd, but beat Steffi, for the only time.

As for the actual match, I couldn't comment on the quality. I've only seen the last few games. I seem to remember that the BBC didn't show the entire match, just highlights.

I've seen this match, and it's sensational! Wonderful hitting from both women, and amazing tenacity from Capriati after losing the first set. Long, long rallies of very high quality....well worth ordering on video or DVD for fans of either player!:)

Yeah, I've got this on video. As a Jenny fan, I love it. Although she did seem to have problems with her hat on the podium :)
