Venus describes a day at Amelia Island - Is marta playing like Pete?!

I am scheduled to play 2nd match on after 11 against Marta G. from Poland. A big storm is schedule to come through later in the afternoon.

12pm

I proceed to get down 0-3 in the first set before I tie it to 3-3. I have several chances to break before Marta holds serves, breaks and then holds for the first set. The girl is just ripping winners and overall playing like Pete Sampras. Houston we have a problem.


12:35pm

I am down a break in the second set, the score is 1-2


12:50pm

I am fighting to get form and I have broken back and I am now up a break. 5-2 Venus. Splatters of rain are falling.


1pm

Yikes, I lost two games in a row, now I am leading 5-4. She is serving I have to close this out!

Yes, I won the set! The match is dead even, but this girl is now playing like Pete and Andre combined!

I am serving in the third it is very, very dark. Clouds are passing over and we are forced to leave the court.

We resume play after a rain scare. I get down 0-30 before I tie it to 30-30, but the rains are coming down. Me? I am so fired up and angry that each drop that touched my skin immediately sizzles!


1:20pm

It’s raining so hard that I decide to get something to eat and refuel.


1:50pm

I am listening to my I pod and lying down at the indoor pool at the tennis center. I am listening to Omaha Sessions my new old CD by 311


2:36pm

My trainer and the Tour Director come into the massage room where I am laying down (I changed positions since 1:50pm) and come to tell me that my match is cancelled until the next day. I don’t want it to be canceled, but what can I do?


4pm

I am in Serena’s room, and we are playing phone games while watching the rain from the window. Serena’s match has also been cancelled.


6pm

I am reading my email when I find out that I have been fined by the tour. My mood is dark.


7pm

I have not gotten an email from my friend and I have been fined, I am jumpy because I have unfinished business on court against 'Aggasi'.


9pm

Frustrated and upset I go to bed. I have a big day ahead of me.

Venus, I love you and Marta both, but Marta served six double faults in those first two service games. That is not playing like Pete Sampras!

Sometimes when u try to remember things that happened u think about an exact time, i dont think its 100 porcent real, like the exact minute but I think she did actually take time during the entire afternoon!

Didnt u see the game:rolleyes: . She had her notebook out during change of ends and her dad Richard was screaming out "'Hey Vee, It's 1:37", "oh and make sure you include some obscure reference to Pete sampras for me will ya sweety".:D :D :D
