View Full Version : Who will have the better clay court season, Myskina or Dementieva

I think Myskina is still working the kinks out of her game and will return to form around the time of the Italian Open. Dementieva is already in form, and may peak too early for Roland Garros. Any thoughts on these two ladies who eliminated the competition last year at the crown jewel of the claycourt season...

I think Dementieva will.

I hope Myskina... clay's after all her favourite surface.... so c'mon! Grab all the tier ones and the Grand slam!

Anastasia might not enter in a tourney before RG.
Who will have a better RG it would be more fair to ask. But then again it depends on the draw.
Maybe a clash would give us the answer.

Dementieva has historically performed better on clay compared to Myskina. However Myskina won RG.

Just based on 2005 form, I'd give a big edge to Elena.

In some ways, Elena not winning Charleston may be a blessing in disguise, as she could peak too early.

myskina just needs one good run to defend her crown.
dmentieva needs to streak them together again if she wants to try out for a slam for a third time in 12 months.
we'll judge by the fed-cup scores (on clay) and the next tournies.

Dementieva is more consistent than Myskina<who has not played well so far>
I believe Dementieva will do well on clay especially at FO. ;)

Dementieva (she is playing consistently)

Dementieva, because she'll probably reach a QF.

Quite impossible to say Myskina as no one knows when she´s gonna be able to play at all?!?

Apr 18th, 2005, 02:19 PM
From what it seems right now, it's going to be Elena

I hope Myskina... clay's after all her favourite surface.... so c'mon! Grab all the tier ones and the Grand slam!

No, actually, it isn't. Myskina, aside from that Roland Garros title that three better claycourters handed to her, is aweful on clay. She does much better on carpet and hardcourts, even grass. Just look at her surface records.

Both have been pretty consistent. Dementieva has consistently beaten the people she is supposed to. Myskina has consistently lost early. Myskina shows no signs of regrouping or finding form soon. Dementieva's always been the better claycourter.

Elena Dementieva made the final of Charleston, Anastasia Myskina lost in early rounds of all the clay tournaments so far, so guess who will have the better clay season! :tape:

Anastasia Myskina has a 55:32 w/l career record so far, this year only 1:2! :o
She won the French Open last year, but the years before she never came further than 2nd round!( :bolt: :scared: ). I fear that she will loose in an early round because she is under pressure to defend so many ranking points!

Elena Dementieva has a 58:36 w/l career record so far, and this year a nice 4:1. :D She made French Open final last year but except a 4th round in 2002 she failed in the first two rounds all the other years. :o However she seems to be a fighter and it wouldn't be a surprise to me to see her in the semis this year. :)

Myskina is in a serious slump at the moment...
I think Dementieva will have the best clay court season in 2005...

dementieva's wins are on green clay, much more faster den red clay. it's too early to judge their performances. nastya's fav surface is clay, but she doesn't necessary have to do well on her fav surface right? kim's fav surface is grass, has she won wimbledon? looking at the form right now, i'm going to go with elena. she's become much more consistent than last year which is a v good sign.
