I have it calculated to be about 14. She is losing 300+ points from Charleston, 311 from Warsaw, and 286 from Berlin. Assuming no one else loses or gains significant points, 1750-1800 points would put her right behind Patty Schnyder at 14. Is this correct? I hope not. That would mean we could have a Venus vs. Serena R16:o  ...

Juju and Kim might even grab top 8 seeds the way they're going. Certianly they'll be in the 9-12 range at least, meaning they won't face Davvy, Masha, Serena or Amelie early on. That's cool.

this whole tournament is gonna be a mess........and do you honestly think kim and justine are gonna be in the top 10 by roland garros......thats wishful thinking.......i remember venus saying that there is still time for her to enter another event so hopefully she will and she will be top 12.........otherwise she is gonna draw maria, serena, amelie, lindsay in rd. of 16 and the only good scenario would be to draw momo

This draw will be soooo bad...Well good in a sense, with great early matches, but it will suck cause some players will lose early even though they would ahve done great...

BTW, I don't think that being in the 9-12 seed range assures you of not facing 1-4 in the R16, wasn't Venus like 9 or 10 when she faced Davenport in the Us Open rnd of 16? And Davenport was ranked high by then.....I just think people from 9-16 can face any player in the r16!

Venus could easily win Istanbul, so she'll be gaining points there.

Isn't Istanbul the week before the French Open? If so, that's after the seeds are set.

If she loses 600 points, that would put her just behind Petrova's current total at #12. Clijsters could pass her, but there's also the possibility that Capriati won't be able to play RG.

That's odd...I wonder why she is playing her schedule like that :o

If Venus was truly worried about her seeding she would have changed her schedule again :) :wavey:

it doesn't matter what her seeding is, if she is truly ready to win, she'll win it regardless of whom she plays

Theres no argument there from me, I totally agree if shes winning it she will win it whether shes ranked #1 or #55. However in response to other's, I do see Clijsters possibly grabbing a top 10 seed, I mean shes already ranked #17, she will be only gaining points during the red clay warmups for Rolland garros. I mean I really see her making at least the quarters at worst of both Berlin and Roma, should she remain healthy, and shel be getting bonus points for beating players ranked higher than her, she certainly can beat the Russians all of them except maybe Myskina if she finds the same form she had on clay last year. So just alone by making the quarters of both those tier 1s thats already like 325pts, she can even win one of these if she finds her groove on clay and her wrist holds strong. I mean and Mauresmo will just be easy prey carrying big bonus points if you beat her and we know the head to head Clijsters boasts against Mauresmo.

o crap I really was hoping for Venus to get far in this tournament and the only way for her to do this is to win some of the biggest matches prolly in her career (slight exaggeration) where did you hear she won't play any of the European clay season is Serena not playing too?!?!??!!

That's not correct. The top 4 seeds face the 13-16 seeds in the round of 16 and 5-8 seeds face the 9-12 seeds, assuming all hold.

Davenport was seeded 5th at the US Open (1 Henin-Hardenne, 2 Mauresmo, 3 S. Williams, 4 Myskina) and Venus was seeded 11th which is why they were able to meet in the round of 16.

Venus knows what she is doing.

She is playing in Istnabul the week before the FO. I know she wont gain a load of points there because it is only a tier 3 but she will get some because she wants to do well.

Right now i feel its not about rankings or seedings, it is about her confidence and game.

I think playing any of the top players on clay in the 4th round will help her with her game and confidence. It might even be better. Beating a top 4 seed in the 4th round will hopefully propell her game in the quaters and prepare her the semi's and final.

...because lets face it guys....whatever Venus' seed may be at the French Open 2005, we ALL know shes going to win the tournament!!!!!!!

Lindsay was the number 5 seed [because of Serena's special seeding], Venus 11.

Well if she's getting upset by players at the moment and falling apart [like she did against Lindsay in AI], she needs a break and that'll be beneficial.
