That was a good match, Justine looked really tough out there. Tatiana played well, but served poorly today.

Good luck next time Tati!

Sad for Golovin, but glad Justine seems to be back on track. Should make for some exciting tennis this year now that the Belgians are back in action and doing great. Loads of winners from both, but horrendous aounts of doublefaults on both sides.:o Anybody see this match? Was it pretty clean? Nice scoreline too, bodes well for Golovin on the dirt in upcoming weeks. hopes she keeps up the good form allez.:yeah:

It was another up and down match from both.

Tatiana hit from incredible FH that even Lindsay or Elena D could be proud of. Unfortunately, she is lack of experience and in a couple of points she was even lost. I really can see her as a top 10 material. Well done.

Justine played some vintage tennis but not very often. Again the fighting spirit forced her to play that little bit better when needed. Overall, it was a better match than yesterday.

Go Justine.

Great match, Justine just played better on the key points.

Tatiana is the real deal though, so solid from everywhere, really reminds me of Hingis.

It was a good match from both, although more errors than winners. It was extremely close in both sets, just a couple of points either way. Nice to see Juju back in action. She's not quite up to her best form but you could see flashes of brilliance throughout the match. Her backhand didn't seem as hard, but was consistent nonetheless. Tati came to net a lot with success. She played well throughout the match and if she hadn't of missed that last backhand, who knows?

Tati played very well but had too many double faults. Also didn't win as many of the big points as Justine did.

Justine looked very impressive today. She is getting very close to her top form.

Great tournament Tati. You should be proud.

Good luck in the final Justine.

Tati  Good Effort!

This match is a perfect example of why Tati has to learn the right balance being being a backboard and being aggressive. She came up against someone today, who was making low UE's like her but was being much more aggressive and that was the difference in the end.

Tati was alot more aggressive today than she was all week, but still alot of work to do in that arena. She also needs to work on her BH and her serve placement.

Overall a very good tournament for her and I hope it inspires her.

The wind was wreaking havoc, esp. on the serve, but Justine really stepped up her game when she needed to.

Golovin is very good! :yeah:

Nice match, but :woohoo: Justine! :bounce:

Tati really could of won. But again her lack of a big weapon consisently hurt her. It's good hitting a big forehand now and again but cos she didn't do it often it just didn't really threaten Justine in a dangerous way. She also was clueless when Justine hit anything with slice.

Justine :) Still not quite back and I still think she's an underdog in the final but well... ;)

Really? I thought it was an ugly match within an ugly tournement.

I mean, there were a lot of errors..mostly from Justine...but the winners and drop shots were amazing. And I can watch Justine's one handed back hand all day. Even though she's not one of my favorite players, she's an inspiration cause I also hit with a one handed backhand, and hers is just a thing of beauty.

It made me laugh when she played those dropshot. She did it, failed then Justine showed her how to do it acouple of time and she did it again right after Justine won a point with dropshot - and succeeded.

It was quite funny. Good on her though.

Mmm, I guess you have to consider the conditions but I expect Lena D [or Patty] to win tomorrow.

Also, Justine should be more careful when belting balls in frustration, I noticed a couple were REALLY close to Lindsay yesterday [she got a good glare for that] and then today she nearly knocked Tati out.

I hope she plays Elena D and that it's shown on Belgian TV.

Yeah...it was funny, because Justine made sure Tati saw her apologize. And then Pam Shriver made a reference to the 2003 French Open SF hand incident with Serena.

I thought Pam was making a reference to the Serena-ASV thing at Roland Garros? But I thought that was a close one too.

It's actually quite amazing that Justine won in 2, when she was not even playing normally until 5-4 in the 1st set!
The she hit some amazing shots, and that let her believe she can control the ball!
before that it was her serve that was keeping it close!

But then she played some really smart tennis, frustrating Tanya with slice sometimes!! :D
Tati is such a great player, she played so well from that forehand!! :D

And what a nice moment at the net in the end!!! :hearts:

Nope, she even said "French Open 2003 Semi-Final". Tim was talking over her at the time though, so that might be why you misheard.

I wasn't too impressed with Justine today. She had a few nice forehands, but in reality she won more because Golovin went away at some key points in the match. Golovin made a lot of errors in the tie-break, and Justine didn't do a lot to win that tie-break (and in fact double-faulted on her first set point after failing to serve out the set when up 6-5).

Then in the 2nd set Golovin was up 2-0 and had a break point and then preceded to lost 3 games in a row off some loose play (she hit 3 backhand returns in a row into the net). At that point Justine should have closed Tatiana out, but instead Tatiana went on a streak of her own, and it ended up being a close set.

To me Justine was kind of lucky to win this in that someone like Serena or Maria wouldn't have given away the games that Tatiana did.

Still, it was a nice match to watch, and there were some good rallies and close games.

Mixed bag - some very good play but a lot of poor errors. Serving is a bit of a worry.

However, most importantly Justine showed great desire & faught very hard.

I think Justine will perform far better on slow European clay than on the green stuff.

I like watching Tati, very sound tennis player. That said, I think a 2003 Justine would have won 2 and 2 - the rust is heavy, but she's getting there!

I hate retarded "if" or "wouldn't have" statemants like this. No one, not even you (even if you think you do) can be completely certain about how things are going to turn out and/or "would have" turned out.

Who's to say or would've thought that Masha would be double bageled by Lindsay. Or that Rena would lose to Vee (now days). Or that Vee would be susceptible to lose to everyone else. Or that Myskina would be a Slam Champion:tape: Get my drift?

As much as we think we know, we really don't ;)

I think that Justine played well today. Even though she is still rusty and tends to miss shots she normally would not have, she is getting there. It is her mental toughness that has really carried her through and I am happy for her. She has a great chance to win the final tomorrow and should be able to do it.

Fun match to watch! Nice to see that not every teen player is simply a baseline basher. If Tatiana could have kept up the level of tennis she started out with, the match could easily have gone 3 -- but who knows, maybe Justine would have cranked up her own level yet another notch. She does that! :)

But I'm worried about the way Justine bent over & seemed to clutch her taped upper leg after a couple of serves -- hope she's good to go tomorrow! Where she will face yet another style of tennis, which is great RG prep for her.

Win or lose tomorrow, it's been a fabulous week for our little warrior. :hearts:

Im so glad I had this match video taped! Justine keeps getting better with each match! That Vintage Backhand down-the-line was so reminescent of her game circa early 2004! wow! she hit that down the line shot so many times it was breathe taking! and her drop shots are being hit with so much more confidence... her forehand was on fire towards the end of the match but needs more consistency.. allez justine!
