I guess I was the only one wanting Stephen to win

One bad shot turned the whole thing round. Ronnie did well but I hope we're spared one of his annual interviews where he talks about he's gonna quit, how depressed he is, how messed up he is etc. etc.

I hope John Higgins wins :) or Ronnie I guess. He is good to watch.

O'Sullivan renews threat to quit

World number one Ronnie O'Sullivan has again hinted at a wish for a future outside of snooker.

O'Sullivan has won four tournaments this season and is hot favourite to win a third world title, but seemed blasť about the sport he dominates.

"I've struggled all season with my game and I have not really been enjoying it," he told BBC Sport.

"My heart's not really in it. I've had a good career, I have enjoyed it and I am quite settled."

The defending world champion - universally regarded as a sporting genius - has a long history of declaring his boredom with snooker, but remains by far the biggest draw in the sport.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/shared/img/o.gifO'Sullivan down despite win (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/3555345.stm)

"I am just reflecting on my career," he added.

"I will play this tournament and see what happens, and then play next season and see how I feel. I have got a few ideas and we will see what happens."

O'Sullivan - who did not elaborate on his "ideas" - was speaking in the aftermath of his stirring fightback against provisional world number three Stephen Maguire on Saturday.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/shared/img/o.gifhttp://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sol/shared/img/v3/end_quote.gif At the moment I am just not really interested http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sol/shared/img/v3/end_quote.gif

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Despite the thrilling outcome to an engrossing contest, O'Sullivan claimed he was ambivalent about the outcome of the match.

"I was thinking I would be quite happy just to go home and I was relieved the season was coming to an end," he said.

"I have to be honest with how I feel otherwise I feel I am kidding myself.

"I am still pleased to be through but it wouldn't have been such a terrible thing if I had lost. Whichever way it had ended I would have won, so in a way I had nothing to lose.

"Winning isn't everything to me. It is obviously nice but I have to play decent snooker.

"I had a tough draw against Stephen last year and knowing I was playing him again made me knuckle down a week before Sheffield.

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/shared/img/o.gifhttp://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sol/shared/img/v3/end_quote.gif He knows he's head and shoulders above the rest and he's a bit bored http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/sol/shared/img/v3/end_quote.gif

"I haven't really practised all season, I have just been going through the motions. At least now I have prepared for the tournament as best as I could.

"I love winning, it is the practice and lifestyle that goes with it [I don't like].

"It is quite an isolated lifestyle if you want to be the best. I have got a heavy schedule but that is what I have to do to make sure I am ahead of the rest. "It is quite demanding and I don't know if I can do another four or five years of that. Maybe I will have to settle for being number eight or nine in the world. "As long as I am in the top 16, when the appetite comes back I can kick on again. But at the moment I am just not really interested."

Ronnie O'Attentionwhore!

Anyway, just got back from my weekend away and before the new girlfriend comes down next Saturday, I'm off with 1 of my sisters (Anastazie) and my joint best friend Sarah#1 to the Crucible on Wednesday and Thursday

No idea who will be playing, but we have tickets for both sessions on both days and I've never been before.

Also, watched a bit of it as the new missus likes watching the snooker and their has been a very beautiful woman in the audience (Wearing pink today and 2 seats from John Higgins seat)

That has kept me entertained and the missus slapping me (gently ;) )

Very nice, mid 30's at a guess, looks like a laydee to me ;)

Come on 'The Nugget'!!!!! Would love to see one of his matches, should the 1st round be out of the way by Thursday or Friday

Thanks for quoting me GoDom. I knew it would happen at some point

"But at the moment I am just not really interested."

Guess what Ronnie? Neither am I.

He is a great player but honestly it's the same stuff all the time. All the talk about an isolated lifestyle - no one is forcing him to do it. The game has made him a millionaire, so are we supposed to feel sorry for him?

Anyway good luck to John Higgins. Get through that first round John! :scared: And well done Alan McManus ;)

Don't have morning tickets for Friday so will miss 2nd session between Hendry/Robertson v Hamilton

Just hope it's not all over by evening or the whole Crucible will watch Davis v Holt, which won't be a bad thing I guess!

Ebdon 8-1 Hann.

Hann has played the worst I have seen anyone play at the Crucible for some time.

Hendry won 10-7 over Robertson

Lee leads Drago 3-1.

Williams beat Milkins 10-1 with a final frame of maximum 147, the first Welshman to do so at The Crucible.

I'm going shortly to get to my hotel tonight :)

Still not 100% on who I will see, but am taking my laptop to use at night :)

You are on the other table watching Lee versus Drago!

You aren't far from that woman you think is 'fit' (is this English?)

You look really interested... Sarah and Stazie are showing more interest.

I think it will get worse too as you will see that O'Sullivan next, but you will get that bloke you call 'The Nugget' tomorrow.

Izzy and Gabi, what you doing about? ;)

Well, that was okay.

Just got back from the Snooker, the hotel is close by and the laptop works!

O'Sullivan is a muppet as was McCulloch, what a nobby dance

Highlight of the day was Tony Drago's match, the guy is great to watch if a little erratic.

Yeah we were on the table to the right on your TV's.

We weren't far from that lady and Sarah talked to her  I was too shy  Will tell you all about it when i phone in about 30 mins, we are getting some food in us.

I was more interested in the game you said I wasn't interested in, the O'Sullivan match and the conclusion of the Dott game wasn't overly interesting.

Hopefully it's the Davis game tomorrow..........after my phonecall to you, it's bedtime as we gotta be up in 9 1/2 hours to get ready to go!

Not that you are, but if you didn't have Sarah2, you'd be with that woman like a shot....OMG!!! She's gagging for it, no way is this coincidence, I bet she approaches you later.

Hey Izzy and Gabi :wavey:

David is currently with that woman  She was so wearing more makeup today and more perfume and made a beeline for David after last night, her top was lower cut too  David certainly likes her though. He won't do anything, he wants to be with Sarah#2 too much. I think they just get on well.

Great match tonight, Steve Davis looked right up at me :p David met him 17 years ago so he was saying it was cos he remembered him :p

It's 7-9 over night but was 2-8 at one point, so Davis will be happy with that, or at least content.

David will post when he gets back, I think he's getting "Sophie's" telephone number. She's really nice actually and was talking to us between all the intervals today.

Anyway, gonna dash as I'll be talking on phone to you soon Gabi and Izzy, just waiting for David to get back and Stazie to get out the shower.

I'm not with her anymore, yes I have her number, but not in [b]that way. She's really nice, I couldn't do anything with her, that way, I really don't think she didn't want too either, she was just being friendly and we talked about a bit of stuff for 30 minutes or so and that's it, mainly about me and YOU lot and a bit about her and her situations etc, but yeah, for someone in the late 30's she is GORGEOUS.

As for the snooker, The Davis v Holt match was great. I fear Holt will go on and win, but good comeback from 'The Nugget'

O'Sullivan is a plank, I do not enjoy watching him at all and the general consensus among people at The Crucible is, great player, but an idiot. The game has made his status, financial and fame and for him to say he has played poorly when he's still playing well, is nothing more than a dig at the other players and an attention seek. This is the general opinion, although his fans all seem to me manly men for some reason, the kinda guys that think Loaded & FHM are a good read......I'd worry Ronnie, really worry...

He should just quit the game and let players who care about the sport get on with it if he's not happy, he will never be the legend that Steve Davis is or Stephen Hendry, who although I don't like, is a legend.

O'Sullivan is an arrogant twit and I really hope he doesn't win it, someone who wants it more should be allowed to lift the trophy, so Ronnie, if you don't want it, quit now.

All in all, a good couple of days, disappointed by the attendances, some spare seats in the crowds, but they will get bigger.

I can't believe people like Sophie have tickets for every day! Bonkers!

Oh no David........that woman.......she's wearing a lower cut top than normal today.......what has been said to her. Sarah told me what she said when she phoned....you have a lady if you are interested their!

Not that you are, but if you didn't have Sarah2, you'd be with that woman like a shot....OMG!!! She's gagging for it, no way is this coincidence, I bet she approaches you later.

I can see you are enjoying this game more. Well I can't but I do assume you are. But your 'Nugget' is losing 2-3 [Blocked Ads]

Sophie is nice, you'd like her. Very much a lady and very pleasant too. I have her phone number and address and e-mail addy....how much you gonna pay me for it...;)

She approached US, not just me....and no hanky panky :p

The Nugget is 7-9 sweetpea, better than the 2-8 he was anyway.

Home around 5pm tomorrow, keep me informed of the Boro and Gills scores as we'll be banging the tunes on the way home......will phone when we leave as I want to make sure all is okay for when Sarah#2 & co arrives.....excited :yeah:

No-one is playing that well at all this year.

The crybaby O'Sullivan is hot fave and the only 2 that I feel can stop him, meet in the Quarter Finals, Hendry and Stevens.

Williams also gone, 12-13 to McCullough.

Young Murphy (22) will play Nugget Davis in another QF

Nooo way! He is the Rocket... the Natural Talent! [Blocked Ads]

Natural talent is what they all have. Mark J Williams is the most naturally talented player there is, just look at his 147 and the frames he did win where he was chasing balls all around the table, he's just had a poor season, not that I overly like the guy.

Ronnie should have been out first round, he was outplayed, Maguire just bottled it.

The best 2 players this week have been Murphy and McCullough which would make a fitting final, but i feel it will be O'Sullivan and Stevens. Stevens can stop O'Sullivan, I don't think the other 2 would be able to handle the pressure of a Semi/Final and the other bloke in the equation, McManus, is a nearly man, not to mention the Worlds most boring man

Sevenseas

Can't believe Ronnie is going in 10-6 up, he's been appalling. Ebdon has let him off the hook big time, similar to the way Maguire should have won with comfort but let Ronnie off the hook. Is Ronnie paying them? :tape:

For sure.....although there is no defence for Steve Davis' poor show in the QF......apart from maybe he's old, losing his hair, thin.

Ronnies behaviour tonight has been...odd...to say the least.

Odd..........I'd say disgraceful. His stupid facial expressions, hands over eyes and pretending not to watch is nothing short of bad sportsmanship and an attempt to put Ebdon off, he knows Ebdon can see it all, but Ronnie is, in all reality, a child

Saying that, Ebdon's slow play and history of being a windup merchant wins him no friends either

Please note the balanced arguement dF-B.

Ronnie's interview... ;)
He's being fair to Ebdon, saying he's dissapointed with the way he played and that Peter did what he had to do to win! And also says that he's quite happy for the tourney to end there for him (uhm I'm sure he wouldn't have minded winning the title  ) Not as bad as he was the past 2 times though... ;)

And what is the Premier Snooker League? ;)

We have a 7 man League in UK on SKY Sports, top 4 qualify for Semi's - they all play each other once in the league first, 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw - they play 6 frames (even if one is 4-0 up they play all 6)

Marco Fu, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Williams are in semi's. Jimmy White, Steve Davis and Paul Hunter knocked out.

I do think Ebdon tactics were dubious, the sheer amount of times he had that darn cueball cleaned was breathtaking...its significant that seasoned Pros like John Parrott and Ken Doherty were clealry quite angry about Ebdon's tactics, and said they would have officially protested.

It was very dramatic, gripping, but it was ultimately the triumph of dour grinding tactics over raw, brilliant talent...

Which is a shame.

I thought he was slow but when hearing other pros that were out of the competition and had no interest either way, I thought he had gone over the line. But as he said, should he care? no he's through and won the match :) and that's the bottom line.

John Parrott, John Virgo and Dennis Taylor talk crap at the best of times. They are meant to be impartial but sided with Ronnie, who was misbehaving more than Ebdon. I have far more respect for Ken Doherty.

At the end of the day, I enjoy snooker.......all of my 'faves' have gone. Was cheering for Davis, Lee, Higgins, Doherty, but there are still 4 guys fighting for the title, so it's not the end by a long shot.

Cheering for Murphy now. He's quite a big lad and hasn't been run to close or taken too far into sessions, so we'll see how his stamina is.

And the screen has gone now so it's one big arena...

Peter is such a fighter, although O'Sullivan i just don't think was mentally there over the tournie. I though he was lucky to beat Maguire who choked in round 1. The title is wide open, although Stevens would be slight fave IMHO

BritneySpearsIsHot
Apr 28th, 2005, 11:20 AM
I don't THINK there is anything in the rules about playing slow...unless someone can point me there......I remember many players down the years being slower...

I also wish someone would slap Parrott. The things he said about Ebdon and calling him a disgrace......yet when in the studio, it was all well done this, well done that....2 faced Evertonian twIt.

O'Sullivan has what Ebdon doesn't, flare and speed, Ebdon has what O'Sullivan hasn't, guts and the fight for a battle plus a care for the game.

Both players were petty last night, Ebdon's constant checking of 'that' touching ball, but remember when he used to shout at himself, shook peoples hands ferociously and crying after winning the title? It means more to him than Ronnie and I'd sooner see someone who gave a toss win than someone who frequently turns his back on the game that made him what he is (Not the fruitcake part)

dani_fan Belgium, the only thing I said is that Ronnie's far away from the best EVER at this point. Imo he never will be and matches like yesterday just prove that. A Hendry or a Davis in his prime would never have lost that match, irrespective of how slow Peter played.

And you can't blame Peter for trying everything in his power to trying to win (and everything in his power yesterday was just playing a bit slower than usual ;)). On the contrary I applaud him for that... Ronnie handled it completely wrong (that and just not being good enough yesterday, let's just face it).

Anyway, hopefully we'll get a Peter-Matthew final. If their semifinal of a couple of years ago is an indication, that would be a great match!

Ronnie should have been prepared that Ebdon would try to slow down the game but he had a terrible attitude from the beginning of the session. Hardly surprising that Ebdon played even slower when he realised that. Ronnie totally wasted this match, and it was his fault only.
Okay, maybe there should be a limit to how much time you cyan spend at the table. But so far there isn't so there's nothing you can do about it.

Apparantly the ref, if he believes a player is taking too long over his shots can issue a warning, which is what he should have done...again the cleaning of the ball reached the point of being ridiculous.Playing slow is one thing, but he took it too far and went from being a tactic to being a kind of cheating. It worked, but won him few friends in the Crucible crowd.

If Murphy beats McCulloch in the final, Steve Davis will be the number 16 player in the world. McCulloch would rise to 15, but as World Champion, Murphy would automatically qualify for all events next year, despite his win, not making him a Top 16 player. Therefore the 16th player, in this case Steve Davis, would have to qualify for all tournaments next year, including the World Championships.

So, for me, Murphy beating McCulloch would be a nightmare!
