View Full Version : I really hope Davenport and Serena pull out of Fed Cup next week, for their own sake

If they want to go and support the team that's one thing, but I really hope they keep their asses on the sidelines. We don't need them for this tie and it's only going to make their injury worse and have it take longer to heal. We can send in our B-squad (maybe even C-squad) and still come out with a clean sweep against Flipkens, Callens, and Butkieswicz, none of whom are anywhere near the top 300.

If Serena and Davenport both pull out, it would be Venus Williams and Amy Frazier for the starting lineup (Lisa Raymond is a possibility as well), and then Raymond/Morariu or Navratilova/Morariu for the doubles. That will be far more than enough. Let's hope Lindsay and Serena get rid of their stubborn ways and do what's good for their health!

What is really wrong with Lindsay? I ve heard Serena's knee injury is not that serious.

Serena needs match practice, I don't think she should skeep it unless she is really injured.

Flipkens: #173 - Former Junior #1, fallen back due to injury
Callens: #174 - Former top-70 player, always plays best at Fed Cup (25-10 record)

Never underestimate your opponents ;) Wasn't the USA supposed to have a clean sweep against Austria as well a couple of years ago? In Fed Cup, anything can happen...

Lindsays got a hip flextor strain, which is why she retired against Henin-Hardenne yesterday. Lindsays not the stubborn one... shes very injury cautious!
