Nic
Still proud of what you did here though...Patty is always a tough one for the young ones. Nic will have to learn to play players like Patty if she wants to get to the next level.

I'm sad to see Nicole lose this so easily, but I'm hugely happy for Patty - take the title Patty!!! It would be so great to see Patty beat Elena again. I hope she can do it!!! I just want to see Patty on TV again- so please win this semi!!! I am assuming that ESPN will show Tati/Juju...... Maybe I'm wrong though?

so what's that now 21-7 for the year, 1 title, grand slam quarter-final beating Dementieva, tier 1 semi (still going), tier II semi (lost to Lindsay 4-6, 7-5, 6-2), 2 tier II quarters (lost to Amelie in 3 tight sets and Dementieva in 3 sets).

so add the tier I title that she'll have in a few days and that's a hell of a year ;)

Wow, 21-7 this early is great. I hope Patty can continue this into the Red Clay season and RG, and she has an excellent chance of making the top 10 for awhile.

Her match with Elena should be good. Both are playing well this week, and both have done well on green clay before. Whoever implodes first will lose I think. ;)

Patty so deserves to finally win this tournament!!!! She has been so close so many times, and it's about time she comes through. Patty plays so much and it's amazing that she keeps holding on to the results she had the previous year, but it's time for her to take a step forward finally!!! I would love to see her in the final vs Tati.
Against Elena, I think Patty really has the edge, but she needs to keep her head together and play through any tough patches that Elena might throw at her. Elena can self destruct and that's what Patty needs.

ESPN will be showing Justine vs. Tati tomorrow at 2:30pm, personally i rather watch LenaD and Patty battle it out for the final

Patty brings something so different to the court and most players are not prepared for her game style. The teen queens especially are more familiar with dealing with power and then they face Patty who knows how to find weaknesses and expose them. Patty is such a smart player, she always impresses me with her talent, but her mental game can be suspect. I really think she's finally gotten it under control so everyone needs to watch out.

Oh, damn. I so wanna see the semifinals. Justine and Patty playing, I hope this will be the final so I can watch both!

You know, I was confident that Schnyder will win, but this scoreline looks so easy. Hm.

Well it was a good match for a set and a half. Vaidisova was doing exactly what her coach was trying to teach her on the court yesterday. Move into the ball and give Schynder less time to hit her arsenal of shots. She was hitting line after line for about 3/4 of a set and then she started to miss them. She didn't hit through the ball like she did earlier in the set and it cost her the set. In the second set she started off good. She held serve and made sure that Schynder knew that she was going to go down fighting. Schynder started to hit the lines though. She was getting more time to hit her shots and she did just that. Vaidisova couldn't hold onto her serve and she started to unravel fast. Schynder then finished her off. She drop shotted her. She looped her. She got her to come to net and passed her. Vaidisova was so frustrated that she tried a drop shot herself. It fell right into the net. Vaidisova's learning curve for a girl who really hasn't played on clay is amazing. It just wasn't enough to beat someone with tons of experience on it.

i am now in a no-lose situation as my two favorite players are playing each other in the semi's and i have courtside tickets to the final! Patty did a great job against Vaidosova, i suspected she might clean her out in straight sets but i didnt want to be overconfident. I'm sure Patty played a really smart match.

I'm going to be thrilled to see either of them in the final on Sunday. Any way you slice it between the four semifinalists, it is going to be a great final.

btw switzy, Patty is actually 22-7 for the year now, you didnt count tonight's win.

oh well that's even better. patty is also now number 6 in the race to the year end champs and if she beats Elena i imagine she will jump Amelie in number 5!! she has 989 points already and has already won more matches than she did in some of her dark years (not too far off some of her better years as well). I know it's early still but she does have a genuine chance of making it the YEC if she keeps this consistancy. i mean not one tournament where she hasn't won a match - that's is not the patty i know.

also not one straight sets loss this year. when you're losses are to Davenport, Mauresmo, Dementieva, Farina-Elia (who made the final) that actually shows something about your form.

ironically her easiest losses have been to Castano and Kirilenko. haha.

1) Nicole really wasn't meant to win that one.

2) you obviously lack comprehension skills as patty has been to this stage of charleston 4 times now and has beaten in this tournament Serena in the year she lost 3 matches; Capriati when she was no.1; Davenport 6-3, 6-2; Mauresmo; Dementieva 6-3, 6-1 and other players with much better rankings and credentials on clay than nicole.
