This is one of my favourite movies. Now maybe not everybody saw it. Could be you have a favourite that you don’t think many on the board may have seen?

Here’s the plot summary for ‘Local Hero’ supplied by http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085859/ .

Oil billionaire Happer sends Mac to a remote Scottish village to secure the property rights for an oil refinery they want to build. Mac teams up with Danny and starts the negotiations, the locals are keen to get their hands on the 'Silver Dollar' and can't believe their luck. However a local hermit and beach scavenger, Ben Knox, lives in a shack on the crucial beach which he also owns. Happer is more interested in the Northern Lights and Danny in a surreal girl with webbed feet, Marina. Mac is used to a Houston office with fax machines but is forced to negotiate on Bens terms.

The movie also boasts a superb soundtrack from Mark Knopfler. :)

it's a quite old film (it was released in 1988): "A world apart", it was about South Africa apartheid.....

Ricochet River. one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. And practically no one knows it. Smoke Signals is in the same lines, and as good. :) I like this culture.

Hehe maybe I should’ve changed the title of this thread to ‘Post it and they shall come’?:)

I have never got around to watching the other 2. Seen them on TCM a few times, but never watched them.

Pitch Black is cool!! really, really cool, i think the reason why evryone was saying that "the chronicles of Riddick" sucks is because its not as great as Pitch Black or they have never seen Pitch Black before.

An overlooked, brilliant film is 'Drop Dead Gorgeous'...

It has Kirsten Dunst on good form, Brittany Murphy as good as ever, I love the 'mockumentary' feel of the film, its very smart, and very funny...a great, twisted, sharp look at a Minnesota beauty/talent contest, and 'Middle American' vaules in general...

Watch out for Denise Richards party piece on the show... :D

That’s one of my favourite movies from the last few years.

The panel of judges are hilarious. Especially the two guys who own the hardware store. I might be wrong, but the lady who wrote the story was one of the judges (the shy timid one, she never spoke).
I quite like Kirsten Dunst in these roles, like the other movie 'Dick'.:)
