When was the last time she did. Can anyone tell me? Desparate times come for desparate measures. Marcus1979 Apr 16th, 2005, 02:32 AM Gold Coast in 2002 was a Tier III She beat Justine Henin Hardenne in the Final that year backhanddtl4 Apr 16th, 2005, 02:37 AM If she doesn't win this....EEK... bmxbandit Apr 16th, 2005, 02:39 AM Thank God Jelena is playing somewhere...I have a feeling she'll play Qualies for Roland Garros...she might even need a WC to get into the qualifying...sad. SpikeyAidanm Apr 16th, 2005, 02:41 AM Advertising Weingartner is like advertising Parra Santonja, :p badunka Apr 16th, 2005, 03:06 AM when is it? Paule22 Apr 16th, 2005, 03:21 AM The week before French Open from May 16th to May 23rd. Dokic and Weingartner are suprising because of their current situations. Pat Cash is the tournament director on this new tier III event. Tenisci Apr 16th, 2005, 09:14 AM venus said that she is so excited that she will be in Istanbul :) SpikeyAidanm Apr 16th, 2005, 09:41 AM Cash  alex.2812 Apr 16th, 2005, 09:46 AM venus goes there to visit the country and not to play tennis! ;) TomTennis Apr 16th, 2005, 09:52 AM your right alex...she did say at the start of the year that she wants to go to new places to see the sites and the cultures of living, ever since she went to thailand....thats why she is playing in Stockholm Tier 3 during the hard court season as well. OMG Venus...im sooo excited that you are playing on a red clay before FO.....this will certainly get you prepared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xr6turbo Apr 16th, 2005, 09:52 AM I saw her interview this week.. She said she wanted to play an event before the FO but that it definately wouldnt be Berlin, i guess she has chosen Istanbul. :) xr6turbo Apr 16th, 2005, 09:53 AM ^^ I'm talking about Venus there btw ;) Maria Croft Apr 16th, 2005, 10:05 AM Venus is playing there because she wants a title !! *Jean* Apr 16th, 2005, 10:05 AM Waouhh Nadia & Meghann ! Go girls :p Shonami Slam Apr 16th, 2005, 11:01 AM alot of players are paying respect to the country. if i could go to any non-slam tourny - i'd go to istanbul. no american or aussie tourny needs me to pay it's unding, likewise the european ones. this cup will be built mostly of heart - and i think that's why the top players are commiting. i would also love to see Ipek playing with Anna. she is so nice, she loves israel and she's just... a really really inspiring person. Petersmiler Apr 16th, 2005, 11:04 AM Yay Jelena! Now please don't draw Venus in the first round! crazillo Apr 16th, 2005, 12:09 PM Hoped Maleeva would go there because she loves Turkey. ;) I think Venus isn't allowed to play there is she (because of this strange tier-III rule for top-players)? jonny84 Apr 16th, 2005, 12:26 PM Hoped Maleeva would go there because she loves Turkey. ;) I think Venus isn't allowed to play there is she (because of this strange tier-III rule for top-players)? I think she can - Kim played Tier III Luxermbourg when she was ranked #2 in the world. TF Chipmunk Apr 16th, 2005, 04:37 PM Hoped Maleeva would go there because she loves Turkey. ;) I think Venus isn't allowed to play there is she (because of this strange tier-III rule for top-players)? Didn't Maria Sharapova play 2 really low-tier tournaments in Asia last year after Wimbledon??? ptkten Apr 16th, 2005, 04:41 PM I believe they can play tier 3's, they just can't play them if they're opposite a tournament that's a higher tier. SzavayFi Apr 16th, 2005, 04:42 PM Go Jelena :) And Venus, wait, this is a tier three?! Tenisci Apr 17th, 2005, 09:11 AM Hoped Maleeva would go there because she loves Turkey. ;) I think Venus isn't allowed to play there is she (because of this strange tier-III rule for top-players)? i am still waiting for her :) Fantastic Apr 17th, 2005, 02:32 PM The rule changed this year: Players on the Gold Exempt List must contest the highest tier event possible during any particular week. Since Istanbul and Strasbourg are both Tier 3's, Venus would be able to contest Istanbul without infringing the new rules.
