Grönefeld/Navra were up 4-2 40-15 in the third set and had some match-points at 6-5.

I saw Navritilova practice for this match as Vaidisova was practicing some things on her match against Schynder tommorrow. She looked ok. Navritilova and Groenfeld started their match slow. It was odd. It didn't even feel like doubles. Navritilova stayed at the baseline a couple of times. It looked like 4 people practicing on the same court. Then Navritilova came in and she seemed a bit off on a couple of volleys. As the match progressed she and Gronefeld volleyed better and had better court awareness. Benesova and Peschke held on while Nav and Anna pulled and tugged. Good for them. Benesova and Peschke make such a cute team.

Perhaps Martina is, ahem, finally feeling her age. She's 7-8 on the year, and has lost in the first round four times so far this year, more than she did in all of last year. Her plan of playing with a variety of different partners until she finds one that sticks isn't proving to be so fruitful.

She's still going to hold her own on the tour, and will still rack up the occasional big result or small tournament win, but I'm afraid the days of Martina playing top 15 doubles and competing seriously for Grand Slam doubles titles, at least womens doubles titles, are done with.

Great win for the Czech girls. :D

The Czech Fed Cup team is looking exceptionally good, particulary if these girls play the doubles, which they should. :hearts:

kveta's return to tour in the singles is really nice - but her doubles is quite awesome.
she'll be racking up the points this tourny, who knows where she might be going?
