:smash: It's supposed to be a 6-1 or 6-2 win. Nic made tons of errors apparently. Need to cut those against Patty. Glad that she pulled it off though.

Great win Nicole!!! I'm so happy for her!!!! She's really proving that last year was not a fluke!!! The best of rest of the current crop of teen wonders!!!! What's her ranking now? Around 35? Patty will be a tough customer, but I hope Nicole can pull that one off too!!!

Okay, how the HELL should Shinobu have won? How? Nicole serves 100000000 times better, has a much better forehand, has a much better backhand, volleys better, slices better, has better angles, is more aggressive and is younger. Shinobu runs better. That's it. This should have been a 6-1; 6-2 romp for Vaidisova. And wasn't she up 4-0 and 5-1 in the third set? Oh well, a win is a win, and my Fantasy team is doing well so...

Because Asagoe is consistent and never gives up. The match with Asagoe/Vaidisova was the best match of the whole tournament. I stayed in my seat the whole time while Golovon/Venus played on center court. I just knew that match would be sloppy. Anyway. Asagoe was very agressive in the first set. Even though her serving motion was acting up, she really made Vaidisova look like a novice on clay. Then Asagoe started getting a little tight and Asagoe was missing some shots that she didn't in the first set. Vaidisova was hitting the balls harder and harder and asagoe was working harder and harder to win points. The third set was all Vaidisova. Her serves were consistently in the 110s. Asagoe was still returning them though. Asagoe made Vaidisova beat her and when the match was on her racquet Vaidisova got a little tenative and played very defensive. She started slicing shots and wasn't part of her plan against Asagoe today. I knew the match was over when Asagoe couldn't win at 6-5 in the third set. Vaidisova's serve held up and Asagoe tried one more run but it was too little too late in the tiebreaker. And while your fantasy team is doing great this week mboyle mines is doing bad...:(.

Nicole is almost exactly 2 years younger than Maria. She is ahead of Maria's run to the top as of 2 years ago. Maria finished that year at 32, Nicole will definitely be higher than that, maybe even top 15.

Yours is probably doing better than mine lol. See, I didn't get the memo on being able to substitue 6 people every month. I read that as 6 people throughout the year:o . As a result I found myself at like 650. I have worked my way up to about 525 over the past three tournaments (AI really hurt me, but...)

Tough loss for Asagoe.

Vaidisova has been looking very impressive recently. Wonder how she will do against Schynder.

Ironically, Nicole beat Shinobu last year in Acapulco - her breakthrough tournament on the WTA tour.

Now she beats her again - in her breakthrough Tier I event.

Is Nicole playing any more events before the French Open? She is 16 next week, so atleast she can play a few more events in the next 12 mths. As it has been mentioned, her ranking is now in the mid 30's, Hopyfully she can win a few more matches this week and get her ranking into the high 20's. I don't know if I would rather have her seeded at the French Open? For the simple reason you have to play a top 8 player in the 3rd rd, I think i would rather take my chances and hope to draw a seeded player somewhere between 9-24 in either the 1st or 2nd rds and then have a good chance of making atleast the 4th rd. Not that Clay is her best surface either.
