Venus is not only losing to players she should beat, she's also lost. Where hath thous game gone? It's not just her losing, but her lack of concern w/some of the losses she's had. I much prefer the sulking sad Venus who watched her baby sister win the families first Grand Slam, she took her hard knocks and handed them out in triplicate to her future opponents, now she practically skips off w/out a care or concern....

Venus We miss you.

Venus used to have decent clay seasons now and then, but only once she played a really solid Roland Garros.. I would not be concerned.. really.. Of course, it is some lost points, rankings, blah.. But like in case of my fave Nastya who is doing her usual early clay stuff , I would not worry. As long as it clicks in Paris, it is OK..

Look on the brighter side. Last year at this time Venus was in her best clay form, probably ever. And she overplayed , got injured and paid for that with rather mediocre RG. At least she is not overplaying now, and she is healthy.

Think about what you would do in her situation. It isn't the same thing as 1999, where she was a 19-year-old who was jealous of her sister. It is totally different.

You can't be too hard on Venus. She's had a couple of bad losses, yes (Golovin, Sprem, Molik, Farina Elia, Kuznetsova), but she can't just be injured for 6 months, then get an ankle injury, a wrist injury, blisters, etc. I mean, she can't sulk about something she had no control over.

If I had a 6 months absence, it would take me soo long to get back into the groove of things. What do you want her to say after losses? "I've been injured for 6 months, but that isn't an excuse. I shouldn't have lost even though I had two broken toes and an ear infection." ??? Is that what is worthy of her words?

I would just say "You know, this isn't the Venus I was two years ago, but I am getting there. I am not mad because I am improving and I am doing better. I played against a tough, young, up-and-comer, who loves Clay and is playing great tennis these days."

I am shocked, i was working all day and logged on to see this. It's a shame, Venus is no longer as good as she was. No one fears her anymore and I blame her, b/c she used to be one of the best fighters in womens tennis.

Oh my, am I actually agreeing with ys? Yes, I think I am. :p Good, positive, thoughtful coherent post.
