View Full Version : Ashton Kutcher Disses Keanu Reeves As A "Bad Actor"

Kutcher Disses KeanuAshton Kutcher has proved his talents as a master thespian time and again as he's plumbed the depths of Kelso's dumbness on "That '70s Show." Still, he may want to think twice before rapping the skills of other actors, especially those who are far more successful than he is.

In response to criticism of his dramatic chops in "Guess Who," Demi Moore's doofier half tells W, "I'll watch a Keanu Reeves movie and I'll go, 'Wow. He's really not a great actor.' But the guy works really hard and keeps doing hit movies." The word you're searching for here? Whoa.

But what goes around comes around, and odds are good Lauren Bacall doesn't think much of Kutcher's résumé, filled as it is with small-screen experience.

"Actors today go into TV, which I don't consider has a lot to do with acting," the persnickety big-screen icon tells Radio Times magazine. "They only think of stardom. If you photograph well, that's enough." (Actually, Ashton does take a mighty purty picture.)

Bacall, 80, rails that we live "in an age of mediocrity," filled with "anorexic-looking" actresses with "minuscule talent." But the husky-voiced former Fancy Feast pitchwoman does have a bit of a soft spot for Hugh Grant, whom she calls "charming" and "marvelous" before cattily adding, "Not a great actor, but he doesn't have to be."

Also hopping on board the bashing bandwagon is Mickey Rourke, who is currently enjoying a career resurrection despite looking almost nothing like the guy who blindfolded and force-fed Kim Basinger in "9 ½ Weeks." The actor claims his descent into Hollywood purgatory has made him grow as a person.

"The little things don't bother me any more," he tells the Times of London. When pressed to elaborate, Rourke shows just how far he's come as he decries a certain publicity-hungry celebutante.

"It has to do with little tiny [bleep] that gets under your skin. Business stuff," the grizzled actor explains. "It's like ... the word 'actress'. You know. Cate Blanchett is an actress. Paris Hilton is not a [bleeping] ... I mean, how can they use that same [bleeping] word? You see hat gets under my [bleeping] skin? You know? It's [bleep] like that. It would make me go off."

Mickey, who obviously missed Paris' fine improvisational skills as she played a rich girl dating a complete loser in her sex video, "One Night in Paris," will likely be impressed with her convincing portrayal of a brunette in the forthcoming comedy "Bottoms Up."

Oh I love Lauren Bacall .

Kutcher is right about Keanu Reeves but it's also true that he is in no position to comment :retard:.

Asston is a joke. Nuff said.

I'd take Keanu over him any day of the week. And unlike Asston, Keanu is an unbelievably nice and classy guy. I had the opportunity to meet him some time ago and he was very courteous and seemed like a genuinely lovable guy.

Keanu is good, bye bye Asston. :)

Keanu isn't the best actor in the world, but Ashton can only dream of pulling in the money that Keanu does.

I have always found that, despite his acting limitations, Keanu is still very watchable and has presence as an actor. Ashton has no acting ability whatsoever. So he can't really comment.

Keanu always seem stoic and robotic... :)

Keanu Reeves is a pretty damn bad actor but at the end of the day Ashton Kutcher is probably even worse! :o

Bit rich coming from someone who is still unaccomplished as an actor. Who the hell would know who Kutcher is if not for Demi? :o

Maybe Ashton forgot that he was replaced by Orlando Bloom in Camreon Crowe's Elizabethtown because he couldn't act. That's gotta hurt, when Orlando is said to be a better actor. :tape:

:worship: :worship: :worship:

At least Kutcher kinda knows that he's just a former male model who's riding the star making machinery with minimum talent.

I think Keanu actually thinks he can act. :o :tape:

Whoa!

Despite Bacalls' bullshit, there have always been untalented pretty boys and girls in hollywood...the difference is that back then all actors were under contract and had to often make ten or more movies a year (whatever the studio told them to do)...they also had to dress like the studios told them to, wear their hair the way the studios told them to and take speech and manners classes etc.

Often their entire "lives" were made up by the studio; some ex-whore from Bakersfield could get a contract and became America's Sweetheart.

So when you look back on the "good old days" even with better actors, you really only get to see the best 3 out of 10 films they made each year.

Imagine if Keanu could throw out all but the top 3 films he's made - Devil's Advocate, Bill and Ted & Matrix - then his legacy would be less laugh worthy.

Isn't Bacall doing a reality show called ,"Starlet" where her line is,"Don't call us we'll call you". Talk about hypocrisy!

I really don't feel Ashton meant that to be a diss, but you have to be careful what you say to the media. Their is no secret that certain actors in Hollywood cannot act, but if you can fill seats then it does not matter much. It doesn't matter if you can act your ass off, if you have no appeal and cannot open a movie then you are not profitable.

I'm sure an Oscar nomination is due for Ashton after that sterling performance in "Guess Who"...

And the Oscar for best actor in a cliche' movie featuring a majority black cast released in March goes to ___________________. :o

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry. Had to! Ashton ain't much of a thesp himself! Congratulations! He can play dumb characters (I'm not sure he needs to work too hard for that though...)

Blame the media for all my opinions! THEY BULLY ME INTO IT!

Keanu may not be the best actor in the world but he has had some roles worthy of acclaim. He's had blockbuster movies as well as taken risks in independent films...he's earned his salary.Keanu has made me cringe on many occasion but he has also surprised me. He can act on occasion and not too hard on the eyes. He also has comic ability.

Ashton Kutcher? I'm just not interested in anything that he does. If he wasn't banging Demi Moore, we wouldn't be hearing so much about the guy. He'll never have 1/2 the career of Keanu....no director of worth is kicking down his door to star in their movies....he's an overpaid hack.

Exactly! I thought Kenau was decent in Bram Stokers Dracula and The Matrix movies( can you believe that Will Smith was asked to play the Neo role!).

Didn't Cameron Crowe drop Ashton from a movie he was directing? Something about him needing acting lessons:lol:

I have much respect for Bacall, but to be honest she needs to retire before she totally blows herself out of the water. She just slags off everyone else and says they're not as good as anyone in the "golden age of hollywood" blah blah blah............ I'm surprised that a show as classy as Parkinson gave her top billing to plug her book and spend the whle time reminiscing about things that most of us really don't care much about any more and just being really irritating and pernickety ...........

Kutcher and Reeves are both very average actors.

But it's not as bad as if Orlando Bloom had of criticised anyone's acting. He is the worst ever, that would be something else

Nota fan of Keanu, but Kutcher is way worse actor than him.
Well, there are some rolls that fits to Ashton-like playing some dumm boy in teen comedies.
But, nevermind, they both earned some money out of it, plus AK got Demi.

They both are very average. And Lauren Bacall must have dementia, she appeared in very little noteworthy during Hollywood's Golden Age and was certainly not winning--or even contending for-- Oscars. I don't know where she gets this 'tude.

this. keanu is indeed not a good actor, but sometimes his mumbling and standing around in a numb way are perfect (e.g. in "the private lives of pippa lee").

ashton kutcher on the other hand ... maybe he understood something wrong when he got that razzie award. :spit:

Apologies for the somewhat snarky response, I was just surprised when it popped up again in my subscribed threads after all these years.

Keanu is a weird one, he's very one dimensional and limited but I do find him strangely watchable. In comparison, I will purposefully avoid any TV Show/ Movie that Ashton appears in, just because he's really awful.
