Apr 8th, 2005, 10:15 PM
Nadia Petrova!

Apr 8th, 2005, 10:19 PM
Clijsters... perhaps.

Billy Moonshine
Apr 8th, 2005, 10:22 PM
Why not? She did it last year, she can do it again

Kim and JuJu should have been options in their own right... I'm sticking with my girl Serena!

Apr 8th, 2005, 10:47 PM
Who will win Roland Garros?
WTH, where's JuJu and Kim? Are you some kind of Waffle hater or something? JK ;)

But seriously, Kim and JuJu's names should definetly be in this poll, and not classified as "other". I believe since they have each been #1 within the last 2 years, they have graduated from that "other" class (option).

You know what it is so open - yet again. That's what I like about the French Open, it's unpredictability - like we always have an obscure semi-finalist (Ferdanez, Petrova, Suarez) - and its a difficult slam to defend as well. Since 1996 we have had eight different winners.

I would be tempted to say Kim Clijsters - its just best to wait and see how she performs on clay first. Serena always has her chances - Amelie will probably be too nervous although I always hope that she will overcome that. Lindsay is good on clay but not great and this is the slam that has always eluded her. Another Russian can win the slam - it just depends really as they are not really having the best time at the moment, and Maria has never won a WTA clay tournament.

The French should be an interesting two weeks in a month and a halfs time! :bounce:

Apr 8th, 2005, 10:59 PM
lol u shud take lindsays name out! she hates this tourney

Apr 8th, 2005, 10:59 PM
as much as i hate to say it, NOT MYSKINA

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:05 PM
Clijster's. Clay is hard to pick.

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:10 PM
To piggy-back on my before mentioned post concerning Kim & JuJu's names not being included in your poll. After I just looked at the last 4 choices which were Lena, Myskina, Kuzy, and Molik, I feel this just strengthens my arguement. These girls should be included in the poll "Which Current Top Ten is Least Likely to Win a (or another if already holds 1) Slam". :tape:

WHOOPS! I totally forgot to put them in there! Sorry! :)

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:20 PM
I think and I hope Kim Clijsters!

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:28 PM
Not as though you can make an accurate prediction this far in advance and without a draw, but anyone betting against Clijsters at the moment is crazy.

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:30 PM
until Kim stops scaring me i go with her :scared:
and my WS of course :)

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:32 PM
It's nice that so many of you are going for Kim, but there's a chance she won't even enter Roland Garros ..............

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:48 PM
Oops, I did vote "other" already, but I didn't specify who my "other" was, so...

My vote is KIM. She's at least as strong as anyone else on clay currently besides JuJu, and we really don't know where (what level) JuJu is at this time anyways. And I believe that winning 7 matches in a row each in those two HUGE tournaments resently may have been just the remedy to get her over the Slam hump. :D

Apr 8th, 2005, 11:49 PM
This is another "Vote for your favorite"...so I pick Serena. LOL.

Yup, but that's pretty much what all "positive" (e.g. Who Will Win?) polls are here :) ...

...As opposed to negitive (e.g. Which Player Will Lose Earliest?) polls anyway ;)

Apr 9th, 2005, 12:18 AM
It's nice that so many of you are going for Kim, but there's a chance she won't even enter Roland Garros ..............
What are you talking about you are scaring me?

Apr 9th, 2005, 12:19 AM
I think someone new and unexpected will win again.

Apr 9th, 2005, 12:22 AM
I think Venus will. She's ready to win another slam, and she likes clay.

Viva Venus. :rocker2:

Apr 9th, 2005, 12:35 AM
Yes Venus... She will complete the FO/Wimbledon double & will also sweep the doubles titles with Serena (I wish they'd play doubles again:()

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:01 AM
What are you talking about you are scaring me?

lol..I'll answer it so you can stop being scared ;) Kim is fine, she's feeling great actually...but she gave this interview on Belgian television yesterday in which she said she's a bit scared of the claycourt season, cause it's the most demanding for her wrist and she said that if she feels the slightest pain during the claycourt season she'd rather skip RG than to take any risks and to make stupid desicions. She still wants to play a couple of years ;) :)

That being said...I can't hope for Kim to win this.

I have no idea who to pick...Justine if she makes quick progress...Serena maybe.

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:03 AM

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:05 AM
Alicia Molik ;)

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:14 AM
I think Clijsters will take it. I think the injury may have been a blessing in disguise. She has played with such passion since her return. I think she will finally win a grand slam.

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:18 AM
Either Justine or Kim (who should certainly be in this poll)

Apr 9th, 2005, 02:21 AM
Way too early to tell, but probably Clijsters.

Apr 9th, 2005, 02:30 AM
Clijsters, Dementieva, or Pierce..OR LINDSAY!!!

OR JEN!!! :hearts:

Apr 9th, 2005, 03:37 AM

Apr 9th, 2005, 03:38 AM
I'll just be happy if Alicia makes the 4th round.

Apr 9th, 2005, 03:47 AM
Venus and Kim are the favorites in my mind. Other honorable mentions, Justine, Mauresmo, Myskina, and Dementieva. Serena was favored on my list especially after winning the Australian, but is starting to scare me lately. At this rate I just hope she'll defend her QF points.

Apr 9th, 2005, 03:55 AM
Kim Clijsters!
it's time for you first GS babe! what a comeback that would be! :hearts: :worship:

Apr 9th, 2005, 06:51 AM
Patty :)

Apr 9th, 2005, 06:56 AM
Whoever is healthy and the least nervous will win RG...lord knows who that will be

Apr 9th, 2005, 08:23 AM
Venus or Patty! :)

Apr 9th, 2005, 10:49 AM
Venus is gonna trounch this field at the FO this year....cant wait!

Apr 9th, 2005, 11:11 AM
Kim because she is on a roll at the moment! :rolls:

Apr 9th, 2005, 11:22 AM
Clijsters, Dementieva, or Pierce..OR LINDSAY!!!

OR JEN!!! :hearts:

I'd love Jen to win... it's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Apr 9th, 2005, 11:26 AM
Magüi Serna

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:14 PM
I think Justine H² will win, but I secretely hope Sveta.... :bigwave:

Apr 9th, 2005, 01:17 PM
I'll just be happy if Alicia makes the 4th round.

at the moment, it'd amaze me if she won ONE match  cant wait for the grass season for her. do some damage alicia :rocker2:

Apr 9th, 2005, 04:37 PM
Elena D.

Apr 9th, 2005, 04:40 PM
I think it's going to be a Russian.
I know Anastasia and Lena really want to do well here.
Sveta believes she can beat anyone on clay.
And Maria is planning on training a lot on red clay this month.

Apr 9th, 2005, 04:58 PM
And the winner is...OTHER...

Apr 9th, 2005, 05:03 PM

Apr 9th, 2005, 05:22 PM

I've voted Serena. But it could also be Venus or Kim.

I would love to see Ana Ivanovic make it to the semies. I hope it will happen...

Apr 13th, 2005, 11:30 AM
Who i think will win

Serena- She is still favourite and always lifts her game for the grand slams. My thought- WINNER/FINALIST

Kim- the form player of the tour and perhaps the only one capable of beating Serena My thought-FINALIST/WINNER

Maria- My favourite for the tournament and every tournament o well im bias. Still to prove herself on this surface but she is improving all the time. My thought-QUARTER FINAL/SEMI FINAL/FINAL/WINNER

Venus- Really motivated and playing better tennis than last year she still has slams in her My thought-QUARTER FINAL/SEMI FINAL/FINAL/WINNER

Amelie- probably in the top 2 or 3 in terms of clay courters but not a big time perfomer wont get past the quarter finals. My thought-QUARTER FINALIST

Justine- probably the best clay courter there is but i dont think will be 100% ready for the french and may have a tough draw. My thought-QUARTER FINALIST/SEMI FINALIST

Svetlana- While not yet in grand Slam winning mode this year she is still a top player and did well on clay last year to suggest a My thought- FOURTH ROUND/QUARTER FINAL

Elena D- a contender for every tournament she plays will be a dark horse to win the Title apart from the more likely chances. My thought-FOURTH ROUND/ QUARTER FINAL

Anastasia- The defending Champ is always a contender but Myskina is not in great form although she wasnt last year either. Could pull off another suprise run but not one of the main contenders you would think My thought- FOURTH ROUND

Lindsay- the world number 1 has never really had much luck hear but is more motivated than ever to win. With a friendly draw she could be an unlikely Champion My thought- QUARTER FINAL/SEMI FINAL

Alicia- Clay is not really her thing and i dont see her venturing past the 3rd or 4th round My thought- THIRD/FOURTH ROUND

Outside Chances-
Vera Zvonereva- if she can get out of her slump clay is her best surface
Patty Schnyder- always dangerous on clay and a consistant grand slam performer
Mary Pierce- Former Champion is back in great form and will be a dark horse.

Belgium = Best

I don't know  It's still more than a month!!

Apr 13th, 2005, 05:39 PM
Kim Clijsters, i think and hope so!!

Apr 13th, 2005, 09:41 PM
Kim's level is better than Justine's at the moment, and like someone said you'd be crazy to bet against Kim on present form. But, let's say we are at the quarter-final stage of the French, and Kim, Justine, Serena, Maria are there, I'm going for Justine all the way. Put Kim and Justine in the French final tomorrow and the little one will just find those levels she needs!
