Thank God Lindsay was finally able to get into the match, she was so not focused for almost two sets....... Good job for Lindsay, when she has bad days mentally staying focused and hungry in a match, she usually loses. :D

no she wasnt not focused. us hardcore lindsay fans can tell when shes got her arse in her hand...so to speak!
Credit to venus, she just outplayed lindsay, got her on the run and played amazing shots/serves!

Lindsay showed why she is number one but this match was a must win for both of them. To lose in a Teir II quarterfinal is not an option for Venus or Lindsay. Lindsay had to show her own self that she still could beat a Williams or Belgian. Venus had to show that beating Serena was not a fluke. They seemed to have both pass oddly enough.

great job for lindsay. i'm glad venus took a set but honestly didn't think that venus would win. right now, lindsay is more consistent than her..

No way do I agree with this! Even Lindsay said in her post match interview that she was having a hard time getting into the match, and it showed in the first set. She was not doing anything with her shots, she was flat footed and lethargic, and hitting double faults at some really bad moments. Sure, Venus was playing very well in the first, but even so, she shouldn't have wone the first set 6-1 with Lindsay if Lindsay had been focused and on her game............. Linds was just hitting the ball back like she wanted to keep it in play for quite some time, not taking control, not directing her shots at all.

your contradicting yourself there!
Lindsay didnt say she played crap, she said she couldnt get into the match. venus played too well which meant lindsay couldnt play how she likes to!

Great win Lindsay. I hope you make it a Serena-Lindsay final.

Venus, great playing, you haven't taken a set off Davenport in any match since before your comeback. You're improving, keep it up.

Quite a good day for seeing why Lindsay is number 1. The three biggest threats to her this week all vanished before the SF. She tiook on Venus and somehow found a way to beat her - if she could do that for another few GS matches a year she would be even further ahead. Serena has retired for some medical reason after losing the last 4 points of a TB - she seems to be hitting the physical buffers a bit too often. Myskina meanwhile who has the recent advantage over Lindsay falls to Asagoe for no obviously sane reason.. Lindsay meanwhile goes on delivering and dealing with whatever competition makes it through to meet her.
