First of all, this is not a bash-Myskina thread. She won the French, no one can deny her that. Plus she's played very well on all surfaces, and beaten nearly all the top players. She's in a slump now, but I'm sure she'll play well again.

But I was looking at her clay record and it really is terrible -- except for that one outstanding tournament, RG 2004. She had never been beyond the 2nd round of RG before and she's never reached even the semifinals of an important clay-court event (Tier I or Tier II).

Myskina uses the power of other players so well. Maybe she prefers a fast court the same way a counter-puncher like Hewitt does.

So does Myskina like playing on clay?

She likes clay but I think her best surface is indoor carpet or indoor hard court. Her game is very impressive there.

I don't think she knows what she likes. Sometimes indoors is her favourite surface, sometimes she likes playing on hard, other times she hates everything.

I would say no. As you said before the French Open last year she was a terrible clay court player. I think she is just too inconsistent on all surfaces to have a favorite.
