quite intresting.
of course, in doubles winning a slam is even more sugnificant that in singles, since it puts you up that much more than the rest, so i suspect alicia and sveta to come down a little after RG (should they not win it, that is)
vera and nastya really built themselves as great doubles players, and i'm really pleased that they are so much time in the very top of the doubles world.
other than the star names it's great to see some "unknown" singles players doing so well on doubls. really makes you worship the gals that keep playing for those partnerships.
dinara and anabel had some amazing results in the lower tiers a month ago - definatly gunna do well in RG IMO, and i suspect gabby navratilova to go up as well.
in general, all aussies are gunna slump.

I'm kinda surprised Kirilenko/Salerni don't feature there.

they probably should actually....but i just took the top 50 ranked doubles players (i keep a doubles ranking file for the top 50), so that was easy for me to work out all the points earnt this year for the current top 50, and just took the top 25 out of those 50....so someone like Kirilenko and Salerni may well be there actually...as i said, just a guide ;)

martinafan
Apr 9th, 2005, 09:28 AM
well the only reason you were interested was because Alicia is #1.

That's part of it for sure, but i was also curious about an individual race to chase for doubles, cause i'd never seen one before really.

martinafan
Apr 9th, 2005, 10:29 AM
OK, after looking at Kirilenko/Salerni...this is where they'd fit:

Kirilenko - 443.75 points
Salerni - 366 points

Geez, I saw Stewart/Stosur in St. Paul last year -- what a team they have become. Hey, if Samantha can't win singles outside of Australia, at least she has Bryanne to help her out in doubles. ;) Kudos to both. Bryanne is so purty. :hearts:

No problems! For the last couple of years i've been really curious about this, so thought i'd finally do something about it! ;)....

It may not be 100 % accurate, as i only follow the top 75 ranked players and calculate their 2005 points, so i could be missing a person from outside the top 75 who's having a fantastic year, but when they move into the top 75 i'll update it with them....it's just too time consuming to follow more than 75 players! lol....but it gives u the general idea ;)

Updated through Roland Garros QF's.

Petrova and Shaughnessy are finally moving their way back up the rankings.

Ruano Pascual will move to the top of the list with a place in the finals.

Ting Li and Tiantian Sun make huge jump after their place in the QF's.

Schnyder moving up the list - a win in the QF's will move both her and Morariu up the list considerably.

i'M LOVIN your Doubles Race...i wish the wta would base the end of year Doubles Tourney on the TOP 8 Individual Doubles Players. That way players like Stubbs and Cara who trade off partnersa year more times then JLO gets married would have more of a chance of making the end year Doubles Championships. Then the final 8 would have to pair up with each other at that tourney :D :bounce:
