Having that killer instinct for matches - how to win:

"I played really well that first set, but then I got a little bored,'' Myskina said. ``I was thinking, when is this match going to finish"

 Fair enough Anastasia, we all feel like that at work - BUT YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TELL ANYONE!!! :bounce:

You know...I am really glad that she only became a tennis player and not a surgeon or a jet-pilot : "Well, I got a bit bored and I was just thinking...when is this flight going to end? The next thing I realised was that there were suddenly fishes swimming around my feet."

Awww...my little weirdo Nastya;)

What a nice thing to say. Reminds me so much of what Hingis use to say when she was winning in the 90s.

Martina gets bored but still wins. ;)

Btw, how come there aren't a hundred million threads on "Nastya's arrogance". It's clear she is a Martina wannabe too.

Double standards on this board. :fiery: :p

Well the way to stop getting bored Anastasia is to finish of your opponents quickly - 6-0 6-0.

Hey...no way! We as her fans canīt live with easy matches, we need the head banging on tables and screaming out of frustration. Life on a rollercoaster, thatīs what we love

Lol, maybe that explains why she can't make her mind up when reporters ask her what she would do as a career if she wasn't playing tennis....detective? Doctor?
She gets bored easily, even in her imaginary career ;)

Nastya. Bored, but never boring.

BTW, as far as "double standards" it's one thing to say you let a match against somebody ranked 30 or 40 spots lower than you get away from you a little. It's another thing to say that about a player who is higher ranked than you and outplayed you got lucky.

Miskina's quotes were garbled in translation. What she meant was she was tired (which can lead to boredom).

I think it has to do with personality. Serena and Venus have marketed themselves as supremely confident, well balanced women who know they are the best and don't always have to show it. Myskina has marketed herself as an extremely weird, quirky, honest player. Therefore, if Serena had said this, I would have imagined a different facial expression and a different meaning (though slight,) just because I can't picture myself laughing at Serena. With Natsya, I laugh my ass off everytime she plays because of the screaming and the eye rolling etc, so laughing at her for getting bored just comes naturally.

Yep, youīre right with that one. Itīs like you canīt get mad at a puppy when it bites you but if a grown up dog does the same, you wonīt react the same way. No matter what Nastya does, itīs just seen as cute and weird: Eating a whole plate of doughnuts during rain delay? How cute!!! Shouting at her coach in three different languages? We roll our eyes and laugh. Dressed up like some kind of wannabe-gangster in press-conferences? How funny...imagine Serena doing all these things...Anastasia "cute weirdo" Myskina;)

Black girls don't get the benefit of the doubt, especially not by the casual fan....I.W.?

Yep! Whenever someone treats me badly or is disrespectful, I certainly know why: cause I am an Asian living in a white society! :hysteric:

Oh come on! I donīt even know how someone can turn this thread into a racism-related one...letīs take Serena out and just say:"What if Sharapova or Roddick has made that kind of statement?" (this is a rhetorical question!)

Hey, I remember once me and my brother went to the bus station at 7 pm and that old woman right in front of us, crossed the street and took the other pedestrian way...whenever I tell my friends that story, they just shake their heads in disbelief. Racism, wanted or not is always in peopleīs heads, but Iīd like to step over this and just write everyone off who think colour matters in any way. I like to think that I am above that and it certainly wonīt help me to get frustrated about this and accusing everyone of being racist just because it smelled a bit like it...This isnīt directly aimed at you, just my personal opinion;)

OMG...if it rains all day, Nastya will be BORED out of her mind...poor coach

Yeah I'm not sure if ne one remembers this but last year at the tour championships when Myskina was playing Sharapova I think Yuri was being obnoxious as usual and Myskina mouthed "shut the f*$& up" but when Serena mouthed at Miami "That b#$^* tried to hit me" there were about 20 posts on it. The Russophobia around here is so thick you could cut it with a knife.

(And Serena's comment didn't bother me in the least, BTW).

Why would anyone have a phobia against russian players? what have they done lately?

i dont see the similarities....i didn't hear this story, (but i dont have any reason not to believe it) but myskina was responding to illegal coaching and/or personal attacks on her from some lunatic in the stand that was not her opponent and should probably be banned in most countries anyway....williams was responding to an opponent that was doing nothing wrong at that point just trying to hit her...if myskina cursed at sharapova for trying to hit her, then i have no porblem if you want to kill her for that, but these situations were different
