wow, she kind of snuck up there w/o me noticing how high she was climbing.

P.O.I. - her highest rank is #15 in 1999 - so she is nearly there again! Well done Elena!

I noticed. There are 8 Russians in the top 16, and Elena belongs there.
She earned over $750,000 in 2004 prizemoney.

i'm always talking about her bieng old school tennis of the best kind, and that she's almost #15 again.
now kim as on her back, so i suggest she get's some clay wins and maybe, just maybe - she can improve her career high.
she never has great years as you said.
she's not a big-game girl. she just doesn't lose 1st and 2nd round, almost. she always seems to be in the QF, never winning the big girls, but always getting the furthest she can with what she's supposed to win.
i really like her, she's a great athlete and one of those "i've been here since the dinosours left" type.
i also wish that this year she get's one of the slams in doubles. she's been in the YEC for doubles for like 6 years and a row and never won i think, and the slams haven't been kind to her as well.
only the best of luck elena!

A lot of people follows Lena Likhovtseva
And i'm so proud of her
Last year she was on 3 in doubles ranking right after Vivi and Paola (the previous best was #4 in 2001) and she won Fed Cup
Simply waiting when she will be back on 15 place or high (hope this year)
Seems she need to do it this mounth cos then she will need to
Shonami Slam , BTW, she already have GS Mixed title

Lena beat Dulko 6-4 in the third.
Lena and Ai play doubles later today.

another very gutsy win from elena :worship: :yeah:
beating two very good claycourters :D

I'm very proud of her. I hope she can get a new career high ranking. She will probably need a good performance at one of the slams to do it though. But I believe in her abilities.

I'm happy for her. However she will have lotsa points to defend this summer cause last year she was simply on fire during the american hardcourt season.

She is my favourite Russian. :bounce:
It's a bit surprising given by the not so good start Elena had in the very beginning of 2004.... She has really stepped it up since!
Apr 7th, 2005, 01:52 AM
Well done Lena. :D
And now she plays a slumping Vera, and Molik's out... :hearts:

I noticed!!! :)
Good on her, people always say Anna started the Russian revolutionl... Elena was around then as well. She's played some really good tennis over the last six months, had a pretty good U.S summer, and it's showing.

 LenaL :woohoo:
Apr 7th, 2005, 09:33 AM
i wonder why she switch from Kazakhstan to Russia?
Apr 7th, 2005, 12:08 PM
Lena  she's such a nice girl - she's actuallly really really funny. The final of the Gold Coast doubles this year with Maleeva, Maggie touched the net and the umpire called "touch" and Maggie argued for ages and Silvia farina was like "YES SHE DID! YES SHE DID!" lol i thought there was gonna be a bit of biff - and Elena just stood there with her hands on her hips smiling and eventually went over to maggie and grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and dragged her back to the baseline.... lol it was really funny. Good luck this year Elena

Elena and Vera are good friends. They played doubles together just a few minutes after Vera lost that long match to Anastasia in the San Diego semis last summer.

Money makes you peform better when you need it... Likhovtseva has recently divorced her husband Mikhail Baranov..
