I thought it was interesting that Sprem had managed to reah the 4th round at the two biggest tournaments she's played this year... until I looked up who she'd beaten :o

Miami: Arantxa Parra Santonja, Stéphanie Cohen-Aloro

Likhovtseva is a decent win, but then she's very streaky so who knows how either played. Parra Santonja is in an even worse slump, and still managed to take the second set off Sprem 6-1 :o

That said, she hasn't had any really, truly horrendous losses... mostly up-and-comers or established top players. Stosur, Schnyder, Davenport, Safina, Chakvetadze, Vaidisova, Mauresmo, Ruano Pascual... they're all good players. It's just the cumulative effect of losing to ALL of them which is terrible.

she's a strong player but that loss was primarily caused by a back injury to hingis which essentially prevented her from doing anything the entire match.

sprem's only decent win this year is over likhovtseva and as someone who was at the match i can say without trying to be mean that likhovtseva's form was the most horrible display of tennis i have seen from a top 50 player let alone a top 20. i left it was so bad.

Yes k-lina lost...and shoulda won...but vivi must played great...after the first set klina had 30 winners, 15 UFE....and only won 6-4...she only won 34 points.....usually if you have double the winners ur doing great!...hell she had 57 winners and 33 ufe...thats a geat ratio...id take that anyday!...davenport had 49 winners and 31 ufe.... So lets not read too much into this!

yep! and what's aweful is that she's not putting in poor efforts against a lot of these players. she's just simply not winning the big points and not getting any confidence (and rightfully so). she just needs to start getting out of the first round ALL the time, and she'll be good.
