Eddy's new avitar inspired me to start a new thread, wanting to know the opinions of Maria fans on Yuri. Please, If you are not a Maria fan, don't vote on this, It would be really interesting to know the opinions of people who support his daughter.

Please say how you voted and why.

I voted option #1... i have seen Yuri in person, and he was great... i was right next to him for some time... his reaction is normal... put someone in his position and watch.. people have different levels of enthusiasm..

whatabout in yec, against the other russians, when she was getting complaints from myskina/ elena

I like the man :yeah: (though I dont know him of course ;) )
He Maria's dad and is extremely important to her and gives her a lot of support...plus without him there'd be no Maria :smoke:
A few aspects of his behaviour (at the YEC in particular last year) werent great but since then he's been great, especially at Miami this week....I think like all of us he has probably been feeling the added pressure and expectation that's been on Maria since her win at Wimbledon.

BTW I dont think Ed's avatar was intended to be negative about Yuri ;)

At the start i didnt like him at all but he seems to have tones down his behaviour a little and he is Maria's greatest inspiror and keeps her going he has done a great job to get Maria where she is today

I like him, Maria wouldnt be the player she is without his motivation and coaching. She gets the fighting spirit from him it seems.

I like him, I think he is a good father, but he is annoying on court

andrewbroad

Well I don't approve of the way he is said to have verbally abused Maria's Russian opponents last year, but I really admire him for the sacrifices he has made for his daughter, particularly when they first moved to America.

And since I was sitting directly behind him during Maria's victory over Jamea Jackson at Birmingham 2004, I just have to like him! ;)

Yes. A good hard kick into your rectal passage. And then sustained torture, until you scream that Nastya Myskina is a dark, icy Goddess, with the finest eyes of any female on this planet. :)

I am sorry your maximum authority, but I won't stop thinking and expressing the way I do about Nastya... if you have any problems with that, you can get out of this forum permanently, and be part of Amazing Athetlic Anastasia Anti-Fellow-Russians Forum....

Geez, you all are so hard on Nastya. She got Russian tennis to where it is now. Shame on all you Nastya-haters.

Get out of the forum permanently? But who would be around to argue with you and remind you of your idiotic behaviour?

P.S By all means say you don't like Nastya. Just don't be offensive and insulting. Bear in mind how you feel when you see the offensive and insulting comments about Maria on the GM.

Who ever says your useless commentaries are even needed? How are you even sure that you are doing what you say what you are doing? Do you even think of what you think? Why don't you stop being so hypocritical, and start practicing what you preach?

You wave a banner of good, yet you tend a hand full of mischievous lokian malevolence. I never spoke with my words, yet, you only attack me as if I were the propietary of the vulgarity of the horde. My meaning is not offensive, thanks to free will. Why didn't you rendevouz on defenless Andy? I find thus there is more than that in your accusations. How pathetic it is to listen to some of your comments Eddy, seriously deppressive, and you keep making the beaker of patience of the members more and more empty as the time passes, by picking non-randomly a person to attack from nowhere, and go offtopic. Don't you even notice it?

Next time you have a problem like this, talk to me on MSN, or PM me. Otherwise, don't even bother speaking.

PS I will delete this post eventually.

I don't randomly attack people for no reason. I confront them when I have a problem with them, and any of their comments.

In this case, I jokingly confronted you about being mean to Nastya, and now we have you whining like doggy who has lost his bone.

I sometimes make random pointless comments, simply because I can. I don't attack certain groups or people in particular, and I don't think I cause offense to others by doing this.

Next time I have a problem, I will say whatever the hell I like. In this case, there was never a problem, and you decided to make something out of nothing. I guess a sense of humour doesn't come cheap nowadays.

your sense of humour is very mean eddy. People actually believe you are serious. Or Do you want me to write an essay about cultural differences such as humour?

Szymanowski
Apr 12th, 2005, 03:30 PM
hey Duiz, I originally thought Eddy was being serious, I don't really know why you took offence to it; he didn't mean any harm.

If you two won't kiss and make up, I'm gonna have to delete this thread.

I don't know Yuri well enough to pass judgment on him. I do wish though, that he tones down his "encouragement" because they only lead to penalties for coaching.

And yeah, we really could do without the wet kissing stuff whenever Maria wins Wimbledon. Cultural bias aside, it's still the most uncomfortable scene I've ever witnessed on the TV screen, alongside the Rocky Balboa-Apollo Creed beach hugging scene in "Rocky 3".
