what an ugly match........
Maria's poor performance was the key........
did you notice how many easy points she failed in crucial moments?
Kim's performance didn't impress me at all

Well, everybody has the right to his or her opinion, but I thought the match was pretty good, and I'm glad for Kim that she won. :bounce:

The windy/rainy court conditions in the first set made for less than stellar tennis. There really wasn't an excuse for the second set. I wouldn't rate it as being one of the best finals I've seen.

Congrats to Kim and better luck next time Maria!

No, thanks Vee! Maria's semifinal win will get me through this! And watching the top two players in the world in the final was a much better final than we've seen in Miami in recent years.

well it was a great final..........but definitely the previous 6 out of 7 (except 00' of course) were also quite spectacular and i still believe the count is serena- 3 nasdaqs venus- 3 nasdaqs and maria- 0   ;)

Too bad Kim could not have faced the player who would have given her a great match. Kim had way to many moves for Pova to count. I loved when she kept getting balls back and maria looked clueless.

That second set rocks.

Nice try maria but you failed. GO Kim!

Uh this match was good, and I am happy for Kim-- but the 01 final was way better . Even the ' 02 final was better than this as far as quality is concerned :p

Wow I feel the same way about the semifinal! Venus was great! She hasnt been playing that great for awhile and yet she fought the wimbledon champ and third player in the world like a true champe she is. AND she beat her sister who she hasnt beaten in YEARS.

Truly a great tournament for Venus.

the match wasn't as awful as alot of people are making it out to be. yes conditions were far from perfect but that is part of the game, and both players played the best they could in the conditions, and today kim was better. end of story.

ICAM!! I was only disappointed that Venus loss, because I had plans to go over to Miami. Other than that , I'm so impressed with her play and I have no doubt that she will be a force to be reckeoned with for the rest of the season :p

Perhaps that is one of the great things about Miami this year..a lot of players took some good out of it.

Kim was able to win the tournament..Venus was able to beat Serena and regain some of that old form..Maria was able to bounce back from that thrashing Davenport gave her at IW.

I think this tournament helped several players :)

Actually, it was one the best typhoon matches that I've ever witnessed.

I'm just glad no one was picked up and swept out into the ocean. Especially the paying customers...

The match had it's ups and downs, but it had the class of a Tier 1 final. If you weren't impressed at all that may be cause you're not a fan of any of the players or dislike Clijsters. Some of the rallies were unbelievable and it was tennis at it's peak. Too bad for you, if you don't see that.

everybody knows when it is windy, the match can go either ay, there is bound to be many errors. On the both the sisters played the 4th rd it was very windy, everyone kept on going on and on about the erroe they made, including the commentators, even almighty roger federer made tice as many errors as winners.
But did anyone notice the stats whe kim beat dementieva, it was the ugliet match of all time yet it wasn't as windy.
till cannot believe maria won, ia m one of thse convinced she cannot lose a final!

Ok, sorry, I felt the need to be immature. Seriously, regardless of whether Maria had a poor performance (it does sound like a bit of an excuse) that's not a reason to say Kim's win wasn't impressive. She's just come back from injury, and beaten a player, who, even if she was playing "crap" would still beat a lot of other top players.

I can't believe that you couldn't see that the mistakes Maria made were mainly because Kim hit the ball so precise and hard that maria didn't have enough time to prepare for her shots so she failed to return properly and hit the net on more than one occasion. Maria's game: she just hits hard and goes for the corners. By the time she turns twenty she will need a shoulder operation.

Boy, I don't know what match you people were watching but by no means was this a "great" or "pretty" match.

First of all, I just would love to see how some of you folks would play a match in bad weather conditions. Not a player out there can play a perfect match in windy weather, nobody.

It's what player can adjust to the conditions the best and it was obvious the most experienced player was able to do it.

The fact both players had nearly twice as many unforced errors compared to winners really should have told you something.
