A four strong New Zealand Fed Cup Tennis team has been named for this month's Asia Oceania Group One tournament in Delhi.

Auckland 17-year-old Marina Erakovic will spearhead the team after top form on the Australian satellite circuit.

She will be joined by doubles specialist Leanne Baker and the Marama sisters, Eden and Paula.

Last year the Kiwi team lost in the semifinals 2-1 to Indonesia having had a match point to go up to the next group.

The New Zealand team is expected to leave for New Delhi on Saturday 16 April. The tournament starts Tuesday 19 through until Sunday 24 April.

The eight nations in Group 1 are Australia, China PR, Chinese Taipei, India, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand and Singapore.

A round robin format of two groups of four will be played with the two top sides going through to the semis and the two bottom sides from each group playing off to remain in Group 1.

I never thought Australia would be back down to this level. And they could fall even further with teams like India, China, Korea and New Zealand in the mix. A full-strength Chinese team could destroy Australia. Marina Erakovic and Eden Marama could cull the Aussies. Sania Mirza will be a threat to the Aussies. If Korea have Yoon Jeong Cho in their lineup, then they are a big danger too.
