According to reports from a friend I have working in journalism in Miami, who gained access to the locker roomsthrough a part time job at the tournie, as a cleaner, Federer was moaning about the timetable and said he 'could not be bothered with Wimbledon' and may not play any grasscourt tournies, and will instead take the time off to be with friends and family. At this point, my friend approached Federer, who thought he was alone with a trainer, when Federer 'had to leave very quickly to take part in a charity boxing match with none other than Andy Roddick'. This is all the information I have been able to get from my friend but This is pretty much what I recieved in the email this morning. It seems as if Federer has simply lost the will to play this tournie. If you believed any of the above, you've been got. This is my attempt at a very poor April fool's joke; be honest, post in here and tell me if you actually believed a word of the above?

I half-believed until it got to boxing match with Andy Roddick then the whole thing started to fall apart...

I think at this point it was meant to dawn on you that you'd been got;)

but whether anyone actually really believes this, I very much doubt;)

(if it was true, I think I'd cry; the guy is half the excitement of wimbledon;) (well, maybe not quite that much, lol!)

I half believed he wouldn't play warm up tournaments, but there's no way in hell he'd miss Wimbledon.

I imagine there are about 131 other players who wish this was not a joke, because it might give them some chance at Wimbledon. Anyone who saw his routine dismantling of Tim Henman yesterday knows that it is going to take a monumental effort on anyone's part to unseat Federer from his Wimbledon throne.

I swear, there are times when Roger's footwork, athleticism, court savy and shot making ability are simply frightening. Sampras was good, but the fluidity of motion on Federer's part is simply unmatched.

He really just might be the best who ever lived.
