God dammit Myskina! You needed to win that match. You still have zero good wins so far this season. I really hope you can start beating good players again. It has been a very disappointing season to this point. I still have faith though.

Not surprised the stats are ugly. Myskina and Clijsters always play ugly matches against each other. They both have that passive-aggressive retrieval game that is going to lead to lots of long rallies ended by who nets it first.

Nastya turned off at 4-1. Will these chokes ever end ?
I didn't' actually see the match so I can't say with 100% confidence, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was more of Kim elevating her game, rather than Myskina chocking. Myskina at her best is solid, moves fast, and constructs points beautifully- but that's exactly what Kims does, except Kim is beter at it. On paper Myskina was the favorite, but I think everyone, including Myskina, thought of Kim as the favorite going into the match.

I don't know what's up with Myskina this year. She has always been streaky, but with all the promise she showed last season I don't think anyone expected her to have the kind of year she's been having. If she's going to kick it into gear she better hurry up and get on with it already...

What I love about Kim is that you know she almost always comes back when she's behind. 1-4 and you know she's still got her chances if her opponent is no williams sister.

Myskina [and Kuznetsova] need to start winning the big matches otherwise they'll fall out of the top ten, which is debatably where they belong. I didn't think Myskina stood much of a chance today [I didn't see the match] but I think wins against Dementieva or Molik will really help her get back to where she was. Her rollercoaster highs and lows seem to have merged together into mediocrity.

The stats are actually very good apart from the UE count which has been obviously inflated all week.

They also told the story of the match. Nastya started slow with no serve. Kim outplayed her. Nastya got better and got the rebreak. Then she lost her serve easily and Kim took the set. In the second Kim fell off and Nastya's serve arrived aand her %s passed 70% on first serves in and points won and the stats started showing net attacks. That took Nastya to 4-1 when Kim got better and Nastya's stats fell back some.

Nastya seems to have got the basics right - its just she can't seem to do it for 6 games rather than 4. Her other problem is her rotten draws as you suspect Kim would have beaten anyone else in the 4th round too. After Dechy at her career best for a week, Venus playing her best match since her comeback, Conchita playing her best match in years its about time her luck changed - Kim on her way back to number 1 in the 4th was about as bad as your draw could be.

I'm not really shocked, but didn't expect it that Myskina was gonna lead anything, actually. Anyway, that's a very good win for Kim, and I hope she makes it to the final, ot at least semifinal.

GREAT JOB KIM! I'm so impressed with how she has comeback. myskina is certainly not playing her best this year but still its not the easiest 'early round' match for Kim (or myskina for that matter)

great job kim!

I LOVE love my williams sisters but would be INTRIGUED by a sharapova / clijsters final..

I'm excited about Dementieva/Clijsters because I think before Elena was injured she was on her way to winning the match as usual from a set down. I'm more of a Clijsters fan than Dementieva I just thought that was the case.

Nastya please get your form back. I think you had more winners than Kim in this match.

That didn't mean jack in that match. There where 23 winners between them in 19 games.

The key was Kim served better and won the big points and is now in the Quarters.

What is wrong with Myskina lately? Not to say that Clijsters isn't a terrifying opponent - but still, she needs to pick herself up. Nice job Kim.

And how have you seen that?
She lost the first 4-6 and they were 2-2 in the second, do you call that "on her way to winning".
