View Full Version : Thoughts on Nasdaq so far??

Lots of interesting stuff going on at this point.

MARUESMO- fighting hard against Kirilenko, now seems on track.....

CLIJSTERS continues to dominate opponents barley loosing games, she is on a real streak. HENIN-HARDENNE tho not playing incredible is getting through and playing better in each match. I dont expect her to get past MOLIK even tho Alicia was tested to the limit against Dulko in her last match.

On the other hand DEMENTIEVA had some tests already, but you can never count her out. MYSKINA seems to have had good matches, maybe gaining a bit of confidence back. KUZNETSOVA has moved through comfortable as she usually does in the early rounds, so they are all very dangerous.

VENUS has looked the sharpest so far. She has played great in both her matches and she's only lost 4 games!:). It appears Vee is regaining confidence and hitting the ball and serving with much ahtority. Wath out everybody!! on the other hand, SERENA has looked ok so far. She played great in her first round and then today, she had a bit of a lapse at 5-0 and allowed things to get too close. She seemed somewhat lazy and slow, so she wasnt really hitting her best, this being said though, she still ended up with a positive differential in winners/UE'S which is big for her. She should improve in her next round. SHARAPOVA has looked pretty good, had a couple of bagel sets and a few normal ones, she has seemed comfortable as well.

I predict either, Serena, Venus, Kim or Mauresmo to win the title.

Venus' stats have been amazingly average despite the scores. I'd definitely say Clijsters is looking the best so far.

Actually yeah Serena has had better stats than Vee but I still thik Venus played better. I agree that Clijsters is def up there, i just don't know if at some point, her lack of play will betray her.

As good of a players as Davenport is, she is not the best competitor. Kim's real test will be when she plays some of the tougher Russians who fight alot harder.

It would be nteresting if Sharapova wins the tournament... but let the true champions decide... I think Serena or Maria are up to win it..

Well one caveat, Venus was at least going for a lot more on serve early on against Zuluaga, only watched the first 5 games, her avg was 109 and Fastest serve 119mph.

This tourney's just GREAT so far! Just look at those names in the 4th round: Serena, Venus, Sharapova, Kim, Justine, Amélie, Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Myskina, Molik, ... It just doesn't get any better than this :)

The tourny is becoming interesting : we didn't have that for ages !

Myskina-Clijsters  :D
Justine-Molik

Next round, it'll probably be:
Williams-Williams  :D

Mar 28th, 2005, 10:51 AM
I predict Shinobu will win the whole thing....:p No seriously, I'm looking at either Masha or Kim to win.

Great tournament so far.....

Justine is back!!!

Amelie saving an upset against Maria Kirilenko (coming back from 4-6 1-3)

All Top8 seeds through to fourth round meaning big battles on their way!

The qualifier of the tournament "Catalina Castano" - knocking out seeds Suarez and Schnyder

Yes on the wta side its been a very good tournie, with almost all the "elite" players playing and healthy at the moment. Sadly and unfortunately its not the case on the mens side, Hewitt out with minor injury (toe issues), Roddickshoulder issues, Safin is there anyone more inconsistent on the history of the game? and Nalbandian got routed by a floater. So far so good hopefully all these elite women players can remain healthy for the rest of the season. We shall see who takes the title later on this week!:)

Mar 28th, 2005, 06:33 PM
Funningly Serena's stats are actually good....yet it seems that she hasn't played well.

Mar 28th, 2005, 06:35 PM
It´s raining

Mar 28th, 2005, 07:39 PM
I wish justine'd win this tournament :D

Mar 28th, 2005, 07:53 PM
Kim will make the finals and will lose to Serena, Sharapova or Venus (in that order of likelyhood.)

Mar 28th, 2005, 09:17 PM
Hey All,

I think this tourney is turning out to be a grand one. If Lindsay had of showed up - would all of the top tenners have been present - or is it eight that are there?

Anyway - I think for any champion to become thus - they have to have a fighting spirit and some determination. And resolve.

Check out this article about Serena. She and some others have it.

it's a good tournament!
so many players are competing,
a few upsets, some youngsters and nice matchups in early rounds :yeah:

Mar 28th, 2005, 09:22 PM
A Russian will not win the title as I don't believe one will reach the SF.
