Do you really think serena or any player hate each other? Get a clue already! They are in the heat of the moment battling over something they both want. Its not personal. It doesnt matter who the opponent is. Some players fight by fist pumping, yelling, grunting, screaming, cursing, etc.. etc..

That you seem to take this personally says a lot about you.

Definately pure hatred. Can't you tell by the way Serena punches all of her opponents in the mouth at net?

Don't know, doesn't matter to me... my only thought is that I'm not a fan of her outfit. Not horrible, just not very, um... tennis-y.

Fighting spirit - good on her for showing her emotions

I think that the fighting spirit comes from hatred. A hatred for losing. Serena does not hate anyone. In fact, most all players have complimented Serena on being extremely friendly off the court. However, I think that she is an extremely egotistical person. While some say that's a bad quality to have, in sports, it's a gem. Serena loves herself and prides herself way too much to accept defeat. Therefore, she hates nothing more than losing. Her hatred for losing, not for her opponents, is what defines her fighting spirit. You can't have one without the other I believe.

I don't think it's hatred towards her opponent, but it's also not her fighting spirit. Like Franny said, Serena is a very egotistical person. She can't lose. She doesn't fist-pump to make herself pumped up. She does it to show her opponent her fierce nature, and it's all an act. I think sometimes she takes it a little too far and ends up adding insult to injury to her opponent than doing herself good. Just look at her press conferences after matches.

Fighting spirit. She wants to win more than most players on tour.

It was kinda scary how she yelled at Shahar, stared her straight down and pumped her fist.

Is it just me or she would have done better as a WWF wrestler. I wouldn't be surprised if she knocked off China.

I don't think it's hatred, but I don't think it's GREAT fighting spirit.

Overacted fighting spirit, perhaps.

This is SPORTS! Come on now... every single idiot that voted "Pure hatred towards her opponent" is a stupid fuck with not the slightest clue about what Sport means, a troll, or somebody who can't see good tennis while it is right infront of him, because he/she has an obsessive hate against the Williams sisters. Pretty sad people! :wavey:

But, what do you think, GoDominique, do you think she has the "pure hatred" in her? I thought, since, you know, you are a German and stuff, your opinion in this "pure hatred" debate would have been indispensable.

Maybe what was being demonstrated was an outfit which in my opinion, does not flatter the wearer.

You should have defined your terms.
In any case how all you armchair players and psychologists can come up with these useless declarations never ceases to amaze/amuse me.
Do you expect to be taken seriously?
Analysis of the games, strategy etc. may be a better pastime.
Making comments about an individual's emotional/psychological state whwn you have no idea what the person is/has been /thinks/cares about, is a lot of garbage.
If you are a mature human being you should know that, but maybe you are a child.

GoDom do you have a fighting spirit or pure hatred against the Williams Sisters and their fans?

I've reported this stupid thread and I hope they close it to show what a troll you really are.
