If you're not a Williams sister or Justine, Kim will probably not only beat you, but beat you down like you stole something.

What's great about Kim, is that after she wins a big tournament, she doesn't start to play sloppy tennis, she starts to play stunning tennis! I hope the next time she plays Justine she's angry and kicks Justine off the court!
(I like Justine but it's time for Kim to get the revenge)

Good lord :o

Kim is just not taking any prisoners!

I was pretty worried about Dechy..she's always played Kim tough, but never mind :p

Mar 27th, 2005, 08:56 PM
Totally unexpected as Dechy plays well at anything above Tier-II.

Hopefully Kim will get spanked soon.

Too bad Nathalie, pretty lousy effort. Maybe if you had tried a little harder :)

Kim has lots of fans now that she's winning matches again :D

Not surprising....Dechy never was a threat for Kim.....and we all know that it ain't winning the EARLY rounds that was a trouble for Kim...

Especially impressive considering that Dechy has always given her a tough match - Kim has never won in straight sets before against her. Maybe nat had a bad day.. maybe Kim is coming back better than before?

You're right about that early rounds-thing, but Nathalie sure WAS a threat to Kim, even at her best:

1999 Bratislava (http://www.itftennis.com/womens/tournaments/tournamentoverview.asp?tournament=1020000345) SF Hard (I) K.CLIJSTERS 6-7 6-4 6-2 2002 Indian Wells (http://www.itftennis.com/womens/tournaments/tournamentoverview.asp?tournament=1100003554) 64 Hard (O) N.DECHY 2-6 5-7 2003 Indian Wells (http://www.itftennis.com/womens/tournaments/tournamentoverview.asp?tournament=1100006412) 16 Hard (O) K.CLIJSTERS 6-3 3-6 6-1
So this scoreline really is a good sign for Kim, though indeed it doesn't proove that Kim would beat the players she couldn't (regularly) beat in the past (Serena, Venus and to a lesser extent also Justine). But I sure hope she'll start doing that a bit more often now ;). Go Kim!:) Good luck in your next match!

BTW: has anyone got some stats or a report of this match? Thanks a lot!

My point was more about her and the Venus's, Serena's,etc of this world...but thx for the correction.

She's always had lots of fans:)

Very true. :)

She's one of the most popular playe in the WTA. I'm sure her sunny, modest, and generous personality have a lot to do with that.

It's just that last year there wasn't much to cheer about.

Bitter :)

And as someone said, Kim ALWAYS had tons of fans. Even in the darkest moments. That's why we're happy that it's going well now :) Hopefully she stays healthy. Good luck in the next round! :)

KIM CLIJSTERS

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English, please.

Q. I have a question unrelated to your match today. As someone who's played in the Australian Open final, to lose the first Grand Slam, is it any more disappointing because then you can't win the calendar Slam? How much does that factor into...

KIM CLIJSTERS: Sorry? Can you repeat that, because I have no idea what you're talking about.

Q. The person who wins the Australian Open is the only person who has a chance at winning all four majors in the same year, okay?

KIM CLIJSTERS: Yeah.

Q. So to lose in the Australian, is it any more disappointing than the other three majors because now you have no chance at winning all four?

KIM CLIJSTERS: Uhm, well...

Q. Or is it something you don't even think about?

KIM CLIJSTERS: No, I would not think about that at all. I think, you know, as you said, it's probably not the right question to ask ‑‑ I'm probably not the right person to ask that question. I think you probably have to ask the person who was in that situation.

You know, it doesn't ‑‑ no. I mean, it's not really something I think about, and I would doubt if a lot of other girls would think about that actually.
