Q. The reason why you added Warsaw to your schedule?

KIM CLIJSTERS: I think it would be good to play another clay court event. I'm not saying I'm going to play, you know, five matches there, four matches. I think, you know, if I can maybe play one or two, it would be great.

So I just, you know, I think that's where it would be good to just, you know, have a few matches. But if it gets too much, there's always ‑‑ I can always pull out of one of the next two.

does she mean she'll pull out even she's healthy or she'll tank her late round match? or is she just modest by not predicting to go far in the tournament?

Of course she doesn't mean she'll pull out if she's healthy. What she's getting at is that she might be due some tough draws due to her current ranking so if she goes out early in some tournaments then any extra match play is going to be useful.

I think she means if she plays and ven feels a twinge, she'll pull out. Technically, that probably IS pulling when you're 'healthy', but given the specifics of her injury history, nobody's going to make too much of a stink about it. Everybody knows she played injured for a long time, and some caution st this point is probably wise.

I'd rather see her take the two weeks off, play Berlin, Rome, take another week off, then RG.

Yep she said what you think she said. However, I don't think she means she will tank a match but it does mean that she will pull out if she starts having problems with her wrist.

I think she should not play at all if she feels that she may only be able to play a few matches, but that's just me. I would rather see her playing healthy.

I think she's being modest and saying that she knows (especially with her ranking) she could lose in the first few rounds. That's why she's signed up for 3 tournaments. In the second paragraph, she is saying that if she is more successful, and plays a lot of matches, then she could always pull out of one of the later tournies.

Why of course Kim thinks that she will pull out if it gets to much. Tourneys are there to play and there to pull out of when one is healthy physcially but maybe drained mentally.

Players have been doing this for years.. don't kid yourselves. Players pull out of tourneys and alot of times are perfectly healthy.

The uproar only occured when Venus and Serena pulled out of tournies, what Kim said and MAY do is nothing new in tennis. It was only new when Vee and Serena did it.

I hope peeps are used to it by now.
