Well... I just have full confidence right now that Kim Clijsters will make the final at Miami..... simply look at her draw and the form of the players in it.... seriously, can't see a threat to stop her getting into the final!!!!! ;)

In contrast, as most ppl have already mentioned here, it is a heavy bottom half of the draw!!!! Serena, Venus, Alicia, Justine & Maria!!! Out of these five players, who will meet Kim in the final? :) Or can that be a surprise?

Serena is my bet. *hoping for Venus, but I'm realistic* :p

Tennis is quite an unpredictable sport, now one can trust in Clijsters abilities and form of late to get to the latter rounds of this Nasdaq 100 edition of 2005, nonetheless its no guarantee. So for now shes first to make the final before we even think about her possible opponent at that stage. First she needs to get through the 3rd round, 4th, quarterfinal and semifinal then we can hope she meets a favorable opponent to have even greater chances of taking the title.

Well, you may laugh. I don't care.

I am Momo's fan :) so I will always root for her no matter what the naysayers will say.

The games are getting harder to predict. Let's see what happens.

Serena of course, but I wouldn't be so sure about Clijsters making the final...an in-form Dementieva or Myskina could take her out. However, when are they ever on form?

I think she's playing really well, but every match is a test for Kim right now and she needs to take every match seriously and so should we, meaning that Dechy will be tough and the next rounds will all be tough no matter who she plays. BUT she's really playing well and I'm very happy for her! I hope she reaches the final healthy and wins the title also healthy :) Go Kim

Well I got to see all the matches in todays session and Kim looked the best by far. Myskina played well but her oppenet played horribly ... Elena played very well although the score was close her oppenent was hitting the crap out of the ball and hardly missing...Amelie played wellin the third set.. but Kim played the best tennis of any women I saw today and she really shouldnt have much of a problem making it into the finals.

Serena or Sharpie are the only contenders for this title, though Kim is a sure bet for the final. I say Serena wins.

I want Myskina to get through not Clijsters - in any case I look forward to an awesome 4th round encounter!

Here's the thing about Myskina vs. Clijsters:

Kim runs faster (she IS the fastest player on tour, just ask the players)

Kim has more variety (oh wow Myskina can hit a drop shot. Kim can slice, lob, loop, or flatten it out at will and with tremendous angles.)

Kim has more power (especially on the serve and forehand)

Kim is more consistent and gets more balls back (Myskina goes for winners too early)

Kim beat Myskina in 2004 on a surface like this 6-2; 7-6

How is Myskina going to win?

Kim loses to three players: Serena, Venus and Justine. Maybe Maria now, but, if so, it would only be because of Maria's heart and fight, the only thing Kim lacks.

Myskina has beaten Kim at least twice - she had set points on several occasions in that AO match you bring up. I would also say that Anastasia is as fast as Kim around the court. It all depens on what both bring on the day I guess. I just think it will be close.

Also Grand slam titles: Myskina 1, Kim 0.

You have a bold prediction.... but its understandable as Kim is on fire at the moment.
I hope my Lena girl will stop her though!! :)

Anyway, Masha is my pick from the bottom half of the draw!! Davai Masha!! :yeah:

Well GS titles, sorry to say that in terms of career titles I have no doubt Kim achieved more than Myskina. 1GS titles, how many finals? how many SF? how many YEC?
I think it'll be close too.

For kim to win the Nasdaq Open, she should hope not to meet Serena, Venus & Justine in the final!

And I am not kidding!

This three can steamroll Kim anytime anywhere the last three years!
Kim has only a very slight chance against the big three as shown by the scoreline of win she had against them.

Serena & Venus no doubt could easily beat kim.
Justine, well people may doubt, even I myself don't expect (though hoping) her to go deeper in this tournament but once she reach the finals defeating Venus, Serena or Masha in the process, I guarantee you she can never be shaken by anyone. She can only rise on top and play reminiscent of the Olympics once again!

I think Kim has become mentally stronger after her time-out, so we'll have to see if she'll still lose to Serena, Venus and Justine. I believe she has a real chance of winning if she plays one of them

We already saw that she still looses to Venus in Antwerp. As far as her chances when she plays WS and Henin she always could and can beat them with her game just not with her head.

That was her first tournament back. Only her third match. When she played Dementieva and Davenport in Indian Wells she had at least 6 matches played

Honestly I don't think it matters as this is like a grandslam and Kim has yet to show me that she has the mental headset to win this slam... er.. title.

Who I predict to win this:

Serena Williams, Venus and quite possibly Justine Henin or Maria. one of these 4 ladies will win the damn title. Momo is in the same standstill as Kim. Momo needs to show mental capabilities with a tough field, but more importantly during a HUGE TENNIS MOMENT. This is like a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Tourney... I will only bet with only past slam holders. Sorry and my bag.:)

I don't think that matters much because Kim would have won Antwerp if she wasn't stopped by Venus. I saw her play in her first and second round and she wasn't far off the form she is currently in. I think she will continue to dominate everybody but the WS and Henin. I could be wrong though and I would not mind because it's about time that Kim wins a slam and she will have to get past at least one of the big three to do so.

unfortunately i think you're way ahead of yourself, many more matches are left to be won here, but i think the general tennis public would get themselves pumped for a serena-maria semi with the winner facing kim, and although i prefer maria, i think a kim-serena matchup would be awesome, maybe they can renew their rivalry!!!

Interesting to see that Venus got least votes and was only ahead of Surprise (I think Venus got a few more votes after beating Serena which put her ahead of Alicia now - I've just voted for Venus a moment ago too).
