yeah...wish i can say i am happy with this result, but i'm not. not to discredit evgenia though...it's just i want lena to win convincingly every now and then...

Yes, it does. She's pretty clutch though in the tight situations...usually. She whipped out 3 winners in that last game to clinch the match.

i kind of am getting sick of these three setters, just cause my heart cant take it! lol

i am happy to see that she is winning tight matches where it comes down to the mental aspect of the game... take a look at mauresmo, she just lost to linetskaya and dementieva was playing equally as bad as momo was, but elena pulled through it and still found a way to win... that is the mark of a true top player

elena nad becoms the queen of three setters, only problem for her is the deeper she goes into the draw, the tougher it will be for her, at some point, something is gonna give! Remeber at IW, she ended up straining her groin.

Elena :yeah:
Three sets might be a bit more nerve racking, but a win is a win, and Linetskaya is a dangerous player.

Good win anyways though lena!

Linetskaya was a potential spoiler, so I'll take this win gladly.

Lena had 2 ACES and, unfortunately, 13 double-faults. She had 30 winners, and it must have a large number of UE's.

Elena hit a 111mph serve this match!

honestly, i am pretty much liking elena's numbers except her doublefault count... 13 is way too much, but it looks like she has completely given up on the powder puff serve... high of 111mph with an average of 97mph!? thats great... if only she could execute more effectively, she wouldnt have so many three-setters

Elena D.'s statistics aren't bad at all, except for the double faults. But, in her second round match, this shouldn't be happening. She gets tired and injured when she plays these matches early on, she needs to focus.

A great win for Elena against an emerging star in Linetskaya. Glad Elena is moving on. Tough draw for Evgenia.

Well done, Lena! :yeah:

Anyway: Good win!

Well Done Elena!! A good win ,if a tough one ,but Linetskaya is no useless Qualifier or low ranked palyers ,shes in the top 50 and can sure play some tennis!! Remeber she beat Momo the other week!!
Lena ,too many DFs ,but i hear it was windy so ,ok ,but get them down ,u gave away the second set!!

BUT 2 aces!! 111mph serve and 30 winners ,so pretty good!! I am quite impressed and Lena always has probs with her first round matches!!

Sorry Linetskaya ,hell u did good ,but there was 6ft of determined Lena on the other side of the net so really what else could happen?? YOU HAVE BEEN DEMENTINATED!!!

Again, double fault numbers don't worry me at this point. As long as its happenning because she's going for her serve, that's fine.

I do wish she'd win some matches in two, but I'm glad she got through this. I was looking at Linetskaya's record this year, and I was a little worried.

What exactly happened? Some people say Elena played well, and so did Evgenia, others are saying Elena just played poorly.

Elena with 14th doubles faults to success! :bolt: :woohoo:

This shows again what a great player she is. Go on Elena and make it to a mouthwatering quarterfinal against Anastasia Myskina! :D

My Alyona!!!
She always struggles to play against her fellow countrywomen.... I was a bit worry before the match as she injured herself at Indian Wells a week ago.

Keep it going, Alyona!!!! :bounce:

I never get worried about the first match for Elena.

But it seems like it was all Elena, winner or UE. Elena did take successful control, so I hope she focuses on the positives now she has accustomed to the court.

This win was good, as Linetskaya just knocked off World No. 2 Amelie. And she has talent.

Elena just outfought her in the end. Well done and good luck!

The most important thing is she won and is through to the next round and is defending her points from last year (which is important she has lots to defend from now on) - and three sets = great match practise!

Good luck in the next round Elena!

I think the reason for all her double faults is because she's not serving those slow, slice serves anymore. We need to give her time to get used to the new serve, I think within the next few months, her double faults numbers should lower by a bit! But great win Elena :yeah:
