I just read an article earlier this week that was interviewing Maria, and they told Maria that Serena had forgotten their match last year, and previous at the YEC Wimbledon match. After they told her that she rolled her eyes, and said that she obviously didn't forget. Countless times before that she would get angry that Serena would apparently forget, blah, blah cat fight. The end. Anyway...look who's taking a page out of Serena's book:

Q. How were you feeling, or did you have something from when you lost to Davenport?

MARIA SHARAPOVA: It was a long time ago.

I forgot about it. Yeah.

:tape: WTF...why is she such a hypocrite? :haha:

Yeah, she's clearly moved on.
Oh WAIT WAIT WAIT, that wasn't the point, right? The point was that she's copying Serena again. Well to a certain extent maybe she is, and will be as long as the reporters keep asking these kinda questions. I would've rolled my eyes too at Serena's "I wasn't there" and "I don't recall" comments, but I can fully understand them too. She doesn't want to go through those questions about the past over and over again, when the present and the future are what she's actually interested in. And it's just the same with Maria. Why go back to the worst day of her professional career when she's already said everything there is to say about it a dozen times, and is moving on. If saying "I forgot about it." is 'doing the Serena', then she should be given a medal for it because it's about the best answer to an unwelcome question.

She's not copying Serena. Others have done that in the past, and others will do in the future. And it's to their right not want to talk about some important losses, though I don't see what's the big deal (this is for everyone who does it), but it's important that on their minds, they're trying to move on. Actually, Sharapova. Because Serena won that match in Miami, right? I'm sure she has other meetings with Maria to "forget".

Because she didn't want to talk about her loss to Linds? I see. I thought that "hypocrite" part was just put in there to piss off Maria fans, but if it actually was the point, I shouldn't have bothered to answer at all.
Seriously, about the only people who take note of such things, and (intentionally or not) misinterpret them and make the smallest matters larger than life, are found on this board. :)

I think Maria has forgotten about it.
Big difference between wim final and IW SF. The latter is big but not that big!
She knows the history of the game. Everyone gets their ass kicked at some point. And then they go on to kick that ass next time. Look at the maulings Steffi gave ASV after the RG 91 SF 6-0, 6-2, and in slam finals, OZ 94, too!
So, Maria moves on, says she forgot. Uses serenaīs words, because Serena has copyright on the phrase īI forgotī. Whatīs that about? She canīt use the same phrases? Because people are watching everyword she says? please, she doesnīt care!
Anyway, as much as i love Serena, trust me, she didnīt forget that wim final. That was the most important match of the year to her and that thrashing she got in the first set bought her down to earth big time.
Hereīs to the RG confrontation- Maria Vs Serena. canīt wait to see whose gonna have amnesia after that one.

That's a load of typical hater crap! "Countless times before that she would get angry that Serena would apparently forget, blah, blah cat fight."

Give us a break - Maria NEVER has gotten angry over that; she has always spoken in jest over Serena "forgetting" and she was obviously joking about herself "forgetting" the Davenport debacle. Maria has a great sense of humor
and likes to make fun, NOT be mean, in her interviews - even when she loses.

Show me ONE time that Maria has gotten angry in an interview or said one thing negative about another player! She hasn't, EVER!:fiery:

Funny how people have to resort to making up lies to diss Maria. The girl has a sense of humor about her life and career which some posters could do well to acquire.

Wow, what a petty purpose for a thread. I thought there was a real hypocrisy there for a minute.
